I was thinking of making alfredo sauce, but I has no cream or cream cheese
Cheap way! roux+milk+parmcheese
Despite all my experience cooking and working with similar techniques (like making gravy) I just can't make a goddamned roux =/ I can make a roux paste, that's about it.. Every recipe says to use equal amounts of butter and flour, I've even watched videos of people doing it.. Theirs comes out like a thick gravy, mine turns into a paste.
Well, from what I know you make bigger pizza there(or so I think, cause here it's normal for every person to eat an entire pizza, while I always hear people in the states only eat slices...so you're either less hungry or make bigger pizza). And obviously pizza here tastes better. But not everywhere in Italy mind you, but only in my region which is where pizza is born(and we have REAL mozzarella).
In all honesty, the pizza was first conceived by the Greek when they cooked their flatbread with cheese on top. Italy then took this idea and ran with it, creating the Margherita pizza to emulate the country's flag: Tomato for red (they used sliced tomato originally), mozzarella cheese for white and whole basil leaves on top for green.
In time when Italian settlers came to the United States, they adapted this recipe creating the pizza that we know today. I will say this, though. I've seen some shows where they eat pizza in Italy (specifically Anthony Bourdain) and OMG... I seriously want to fly over there JUST for that.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
