Common pattern in this age, of reusing old stories and twisting its core, to show a new perspective.
That methodology was old when Shakespeare used it.

For that mater both Laurel and Hardy and the three stooges cribbed jokes from Aristophanes.

No, nowadays I feel like media is purposelly distorting old stories just for the sake of generational clash, what is not the case of using something from hundred years before.

Draylo, you live in New York city. Your electric company is Con Edison. Emphasis on the "con"* part. As far as I know in the lower 48 Con Edison and Florida power and light are the worst and most expensive large scale power companies.

*At one point Con Edison got NYC to bail it out with a "loan" that far exceed its market capitalization at the time.

yeah con edison... the worst. Every time I call them to figure out how the hell my bill can be that high, they give a mile long list of excuses. I still don't understand it, one month my bill was 780 dollars, I was shocked. I felt like I had to be paying for my neighbors power too.. like how? They did a test downstairs and confirmed it was just mine. I think those large centralized air units are just huge guzzlers of energy, and the one I had was old and they refused to change it. Thankfully moving across the street the rates are much lower with newer units but its still pretty high around 350.

I just installed a monitoring system on my circuit breaker to see a detailed breakdown of my energy needs. I've been thinking about solar panels and wanted to really understand my electricity needs.

I am pretty dang surprised to see that my gaming PC is the highest power draw in my house. More than my clothes dryer, more than the refridgerator, more than the microwave.

I've only had this monitor for a week, but so far my PC uses about 3kwh per day just being on and running this stupid idle game I play. I played Expedition 33 for a few hours over the weekend and at full tilt my PC pulls 650w. I ended up with 6.5kwh one day and 5.5kwh of power draw the next only playing like an hour.

TL:DR : A decent gaming PC can cost like $0.75 a day just being left on and as much as $1.25/hr using your PC at 100% performance.
I expect that from an ancient rig but shocking for a modern power efficient setup. Electricity is insane here and with 4 adults dependents like 700 bucks last month due to the summer AC and having electric vehicle plus ancient 1970's home needing all new insulation etc

Makes me want to replace the falling apart roof with a solar roof but dont have the 20k cost right now and dont want to put a lien on the home.

I'm excited to see exactly how much power a state-of-the-art 2025 solar roof set up can generate here in the desert lol

A 600 W card will draw 600 W running on full tilt bogie. A modern 600 w card will run 10 - 40 times the number of operations as an old 400 W card. That's where the efficiency shows up.

Two words: Swamp cooler. Or, if you prefer, three words: Evaporative air conditioning.

Cheaper to run than even heat pumps. Of course they only cool.

The one I have.

Eversource in CT is pretty bad; we actually pay considerably more than NY (so does MA under eversource). A decent non-hybrid ICE sedan has a lower per-mile fuel cost than any EV here.

FL prices might be regionally high, but they're still half of what New England or CA pay.

Funny how many things Ive seen in the past have been becoming popular nowadays.

For example, Lovecraft. I think I first heard about his name in the many occultist topics. Noawadays, everyone is referencing Lovecraft when talking about "cosmic terror". And Ive seen quite a lot of medias going that route, be it in some alien invasion theme, or just weird creatures.

Second that I noticed is JoJo. Long ago I picked the very first series to read from start to the end. I stopped reading the series because at that time, there were already many sequences, and also at that time, none of them completely translated.

Then recently many are referencing JoJo steelball saga.

If you care about your PC's electricity use just don't buy xx90 cards. Or SLI.

Buy a xx60. Or any equivalent card that only requires a single PCI-E power cable.

It amazes me that people willingly buy xx90 cards then are :shockedpikachu: when the electricity bill is sky high at the end of the month.

Did you think the 600W power draw was one of those "higher number better" things?

People thought the 1/4 pound burger was bigger than the 1/3 pound burger, so I wouldnt question the logic of the average person.

In most applications those don't. I am talking about a different machine with the same principals.

They both work in low humidity environments. The ones I am talking about take outside air, humidify it therefore cooling it, and forcing it inside. Around here in the summer outside air temps are 90- 100F, 32 - 38C, with humidity in the teens AT BEST. I can get a 30f degree temperature drop.

They are both fairly useless when the humidity is over 60%. Inside air humidity in the summer is always greater than outside so those desktop and interior swamp coolers work in fewer places than the outside mounted ones. Around here they both work. On the east coast neither work.

Fun fact: air conditioners dehumidify air. So an AC unit and a swamp cooler together make things even cooler. I use my ACs when the OAT is over 100 or the humidity spikes.

Another fun fact: if you live your life in humidity under 20% half the time you will eventually have skin like a lizard's and no amount of moisturizer will help.

After being reccomended the n-th video bashing on Oshi no Ko, Ive decided to break my own rules of only reading completed stories and take a look on this manga.

Because Im genuinely curious if the story is really that bad or if it is just those zoomers being noisy.

And honestly, after three chapters, Im still not sure what this story is about. Feels like we are still being presented to the overall context.

not saying it is good or bad, but this story really started off differently of the rest.

15 chapters read. Personally I dislike stories about show business, idols and dafuq.

The story also had some supernatural themes that I feel like unnecessary and that loosen a bit the seriousness of the story.

Still, so far, pretty interesting story. The author made a wonderful work in world building, spending 10 chapters to tell the context, what I think pretty courageous, as nowadays kids can only wait half a page to get hooked.

The cast is pretty likeable too. I can see each one of the main cast with one or two qualities that makes me feel interested.

Im still looking forward to see where is the controversy of this. Im really enjoying looking forward to know if I will be betrayed and join the haters side, or if I will stand in defending the story.

I finished the manga, I don't think it's that bad. People just have unrealistic expectations that's all.

The story has some Deus ex Machina that only exist to push the plot forward, which makes the flow unnatural, that's my only complain really.
