I think it's hilarious a bunch of video game nerds on a game forum think they have better business acumen and market intellect than a guy that's been literally doing business for 50+ years.

Inb4 someone brings up his 6 business bankruptcies, out of 500 businesses, that's still a 99% success rate. Most people can't manage 1 successful business, let alone hundreds.

Think I'll let the bad orange man run with it for awhile.

It's really a shame that the stock market isn't the same as a private business. If only it was that simple, right? If you could just snap your fingers, move some money around, and erase all of those losses in a day. Everything would be great!

You're right, they aren't the same. Are you suggesting that, because they aren't the same, you actually are more versed in world economics than the humble shop owner and have a better plan to reduce the deficit, maybe reduce the national debt, increase market growth, bring back jobs, and reduce inflation?

I'm all ears, brother.

You don't get to make up things that you would like to see and apply them to what's currently happening. Have you even heard him talk about the deficit? Or the debt? Or reducing inflation? Do you even think he could tell you what the current deficit is? Or the debt number? Have you heard him explain how raising taxes on Americans is going to reduce those numbers? He doesn't care about those things, he never has. He didn't take any steps to reduce them in his first failed term, and he isn't taking any now.

https://apnews.com/projects/trump-campaign-promise-tracker/

Energy, Tariffs, Taxes, though no change on the tax promises yet (It's barely been 2 months, no president was going to fix everything overnight)

https://youtu.be/iGG2nBq3soM?t=592 (Trump talks about the deficit, 10:35 in the video)

On reducing inflation:
https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/12/economy/inflation-trump-plan/index.html

"Trump does have a strategy to lower inflation, though. The president has spelled out a four-part plan to get prices down for American consumers.

1) Lower taxes within America’s borders, incentivizing companies to do business there.

2) Raise taxes on businesses outside of America (that is, tariffs), bringing in revenue that will both pay for the lost proceeds from lower tax rates and drive more American manufacturing to grow the economy.

3) Produce more oil to lower energy costs to defeat inflation.

4) Cut spending, primarily via Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, to lower interest rates to reduce costs for businesses and consumers."

Who's making things up? This is publicly available my guy. Just because you don't care to see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You don't have to like the guy, but if you watched any of the debates or rallies, he talked about all this ***, he ran on it as campaign promises, and he's fulfilling them.

I certainly miss the daily forum browsing, good to see everyone, even Eiryl.

@Vyre - you play the Suikoden remasters yet? I blew through 1 (all 108 stars), started 2, but wasted so much time PLing to beat Rowd (no steam achievement btw, nor one for the color intro, wtf?) that I think I can't hit the time requirements for Clive's quest (though I was told you can turn the game timer off, haven't checked since I've been moving around and such.)

Hope all is well, and good to be back in the mix :P

You, for sure. Really dumb post on your part.

First of all, he isn't talking about the budget deficit at all. He is trying to speak about the trade deficit, two completely different things(!), and his numbers are horribly wrong. He is just making them up and throwing them out there for the sheep.

He is lying about the trade deficit and its effects, and he has always been lying about it. This country will always have a trade deficit and 1. its not a problem (never has been) and 2. there is nothing anyone can do about it. Americans consume far more than they are even capable of producing. This is literally a nation of consumers. It's been like this for decades and it's never going to change, and it doesn't need to change.

Your copy and paste didn't work. It was really sad, actually. Especially since there is no chance of any of them actually happening. I did enjoy the lie about cutting spending via DOGE, again, not actually happening. Because thats not how spending cuts actually work. Almost everything DOGE has tried to do has been shut down by the courts because DOGE isn't Congress no matter how much they wish they were.

You don't think the trade deficit at all impacts the budget deficit? It's a money-in/money-out equation, surely you understand this simple concept?

Let's see your numbers. You can't just keep making claims without providing substantive evidence.

He is lying about the trade deficit and its effects, and he has always been lying about it.

Lying how, and about what specifically? When did he lie? Can you quote it, or timestamp it? Is there any proof anywhere?

Didn't work for what? You said he never talked about deficits, cutting taxes, or inflation, and he's done all those things. Unlike you, I provided 3 separate sources from 3 different political leanings to backup my argument.

You just hurl insults and make baseless claims, but somehow I'm the sad one? Lol, ok..

Have you even tried to fact check his drivel? It's only been a day since his myriad of bullshitting, but everyone is having fun debunking him. I'm sure there will be a line by line fact check of his entire failed speech soon enough, but for now, let's use CNN! Just because it's more evidence than anything you have submitted. If you are looking for a timestamp, 10:35 of your video. He's lying.

Initial fact-check debunking Trump's baseless lies.

Quote:
"In reality, Canada has guaranteed that tens of thousands of metric tons of imported US milk per year, not merely a single carton, will face zero tariffs at all; Canada conceded a certain guaranteed level of tariff-free US access to its dairy market as part of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) that Trump’s own first administration negotiated."

Did literally anyone actually believe it was a single milk carton? You seem intelligent, you know what exaggeration is, yes? Maybe even hyperbole? Obviously CNN doesn't, but that aside, does he get credit for negotiating that first first tariff-free concession on milk, or nah?

Quote:
Trump didn’t explain what he meant by “proportionately the wealthiest,” but by standard measures, the US is far wealthier today than it was in the early 20th century and prior. Per capita gross domestic product is now many times higher than it was then.

You know what else is many times higher now than it was then? The 38 trillion in national debt, and the rampant inflation since moving off the gold standard.

Douglas Irwin, a Dartmouth College economics professor said,
Quote:
big fiscal surpluses don’t make a country rich, per se.

Because the alternative of being in a deficit doesn't make a country not rich, per se, amirite?!

Quote:
Trump falsely claimed that, during Joe Biden’s presidency, the US had “the highest” inflation “in the history of our country.” Trump could have fairly said that the year-over-year US inflation rate hit a 40-year high in June 2022, when it was 9.1%, but that was not close to the all-time record of 23.7%, set in 1920.

Imagine having to go back over 100 years to be like, "SEE, TRUMP MADE FALSE CLAIMS!" Actually embarrassing for CNN lmao.

I'm not even gonna read the rest, it's a joke article from a Canadian leftist that has a hardon for reporting on Trump.

Look at this loon's X: https://x.com/ddale8

Maybe find an unbiased source next time.

Don't need to? But there will be more, don't worry. It's only been a day. Like I said, he is lying about the trade deficit with Canada and Mexico. He has been throwing around a 200$ billion number repeatedly and its been false every time. He has been told its false, but because he is 80 and senile he can't actually compute it.

But again, it doesn't matter, because the trade deficit is permanent. We are never going to be in a place where we produce more than we consume. Which makes his tax increases on Americans pointless and stupid. Oh business will benefit! Not if people stop spending, clowns. Consumer spending has already dropped off a cliff, now its just gonna get worse.

As hilarious as it is to see Clintbeastwood go hydrogen bomb vs. coughing baby I've been told I'm being too lenient about all the P&R that's showing up in here.

So next person to talk P&R shop will get Ye Olde topic ban.
