Big tech companies aren't stupid, they aren't going to hire someone who can't even read.
I stopped here because while this comment was exaggered sarcasm, they are indeed hiring unqualified people for the sake of diversity quotas. There are also lots and lots of "this position is available to marginalized persons" meaning they are removing potential candidates based on race, gender, and sexual orientation, which is illegal.

My last comment was about education system, not dei hire. Idk why you keep dragging the conversation into dei hire category...

But to reply your point: Being illegal is one thing, and surely you can criticize hiring practice being illegal, since this is law based.

But being ineffective in business is another discussion.

Does it matter if a company saved a janitor position for marginalized person, even though every other important position that matters is still hiring based on merits?

Say for example, if a cyber security company only hire cyber security experts based on merits, but give less relevant positions like Janitor, book keeper to marginalized person, will this cyber security company perform poorly as a result?

Or, if a marketing company decided to give a position to an Indian, in return they benefit from being able to market products to Indian demographics better with Indian perspective, is it a bad thing?

You have to discuss how the hiring practice works in depth before arriving at the conclusion that this is always bad practice, and it's case by case anyways. That's why I find generalized DEI hire practice mostly not worth discussing unless you give me a very specific example on execution in detail.

Yes, people are complaining about DEI hires over a zero-skillset required janitor.

my word.

Janitor is just an example. Most bigger company has several "irrelevant position" that doesn't really affect to how competitive this company is, it's just cheap labour that anyone can do. Positions such as "X assistant" etc.

Only a portion of employee in the workforce are truly irreplaceable with real values. Those top positions are what really matter to a company, and should be hired based on merits. Some other positions don't matter that much.

Or, in many cases like mine, Caught early and kept under control.

I have been living with cancer long enough I have forgotten when I was first diagnosed with it.

Jules Ralph Feiffer (January 26, 1929 – January 17, 2025) was an American cartoonist and author, who at one time was considered the most widely read satirist in the country. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1986 for editorial cartooning, and in 2004 he was inducted into the Comic Book Hall of Fame. He wrote the animated short Munro, which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1961. The Library of Congress has recognized his "remarkable legacy", from 1946 to the present, as a cartoonist, playwright, screenwriter, adult and children's book author, illustrator, and art instructor.

Sorry.

If you're looking to chat about politics, just bring it to somewhere else since it never really ends. I know the folks here are a bit sharper than what you'd find on something like Facebook or YouTube.

I personally never cared about politics. My entire family has been divided because of that.

My family liked politics but it never divided us. Then again in the mid century both parties had liberals, conservatives, and oddballs.

My political awareness began with Pogo comics and the '52 Eisenhower campaign in that order. So age 6 or 7.

As I have given up on "social" media and consider reddit a cesspool there is really no place online I can chat about it.

My grandma had around 11 kids, so you can imagine how big my family is! The only ones we don’t really connect with are some of the cousins. Everyone else, like my parents, sisters, and brother-in-law, etc are all pretty conservative, probably because my grandpa and uncle were both police officers.

Even if you don't like people fighting (understandable), you can't never really get away from it tbh. It affects your money in your pocket, your social privileges, your lifestyle, or even your life in some cases.

So if you have slight opinion on how our life should be, touching those political subjects is almost unavoidable.

You don't have to announce those opinions to everyone everywhere all the time, though. If someone has a different point of view you can coexist without the constant back and forth, especially on a site like this where it isn't the primary reason people visit and post.

Are you responding to me? I didn't spam "capitalism bad" "DEI bad" "Elon is Nazi" kinda post on this site. Besides the time that Panta lure me into a political reply, most of the time I just talk about pros and cons of economic models when the topic is about money. It's not my interest endorse or fight certain political party during election. At most I talk about the benefit of low tax, or if certain business management model is better than another, that's all.

Studying economy and business management is my favorite hobby, but finding people with similar hobby irl to chat with is kinda hard unfortunately. It's not a common hobby, lol. So sometimes I accidentally let it out, and sometimes economy and business topics just happened to overlap with other political issues in the west, which isn't the case in my region. Doesn't mean I am interested in fighting different political party in cultural wars.

Vicious is why we can't talk about politics, he can't control himself and turns everything into a flamewar on purpose. Everyone else has to make a conscious decision to not respond in kind to his posts, that are designed to make you mad. The main reason he does it is to try get your topic banned when it works and he either reports you, or hopes someone else does.

That he does this on purpose in a small community forum is trashy.

Not if your "rants" aren't grounded with a strong foundation to support the view.

Like I said, try to talk to people actually involved from different angles and see if their life experience is different from what others said. Most people involved will talk to you and share if you asked. It'll make those rants way more convincing to the readers.
