If you and your 8 Indian roommates all apply to the same job in Canada, but the one white person who applied gets the job, you can sue them for discrimination. You'll probably have reasonable success if at least one of the roommates can defend the idea their resume was as good as the white dude.

You can't just walk into a company and sue them on the basis of who they have working, you have to build a case that they are discriminating during hiring. If the company is mostly white and the applicant who didn't get hired isn't, it's pretty easy to build that case in the current political climate. As a result, many companies will default to the minority candidate to avoid potential lawsuits.

Company was sued for discriminatory hiring because their background check process ruled out applicants with criminal convictions. Because a greater degree of minorities have criminal records, it was disproportionate. The lawsuit does not even claim the company was racially biased, they aren't allowed to prefer non-criminals because it is racially unfair.

Another good one is Hooters(a chain known for waitresses with skimpy outfits and large breasts) refusing to hire male waiters. They paid out $3.75million to settle the lawsuit and had to agree to hire more males for other roles. More recently, one location even got sued a second time for preferring white women, and settled for $250,000. Pretty sure that could be a business decision, depending on area, since their model depends on perception of attractiveness.

1-You're not a waitress taking the order, so this is irrelevant.
2-The expectation that you speak the host countries language isnt outlandish. I dont go to China demanding to be served in English. Nor do I do the same in Japan, nor any other country that doesnt have English as an official language.
2A-if you're gonna run a restaurant where people can only speak a language that the majority of people dont speak, I dont think your restaurant is gonna fare very well.

When I went to resorts in Cuba and Mexico, not all of the staff could speak English. I know the cleaners were bad at it, no idea about the cooks since I never interacted with them. But the front staff, the bartender, the waiter, the hype crew, they all spoke decent English, because the resort wants to attract clients, and part of that is the customer service experience. I'm not gonna go back to a resort where the front desk can only say "no habla ingles". Of course, when I left the resort, I didnt flip my ***when I encountered people who dont speak English either.

On one hand it sounds dumb, on the other it strangely makes sense that he couldn't be identified as an extremist. This is why badly designed systems and policies result in bad outcomes.

Even if you speak Japanese or Chinese, you are still forever an "outsider" if your race is different. Therefore not preferred as an employee in a Japanese or Chinese owned small business.

Just FYI, 98% of new Japanese graduate can find a job in Japan, only 44% of foreign student study in Japan can find a job in Japan after they graduate, despite 75% of them want to work in Japan according to poll.

Those foreign students can speak Japanese since they attended Japanese school, but not all of them get a job. Japanese graduate is always preferred.

Canada is much better than Japan from this perspective. It just kinda moved to another extreme end after years of trying to be fair.

Edit: Japan is also facing labour shortage so foreign student hiring rate has been increasing. But it's still lower than normal atm.

Edit 2: First generation Chinese or Japanese immigrants are far more likely to have background preference when they are hiring. 2-3 generation less so. So this preference doesn't apply to every generation equally.

Finally got to go with Jet's LS to Dynamis. It was so *** fun! I was a little confused at first, and SE did not playtest those instances cause they are laggy as ***! But it wasn't too bad once I turned names off.

I was a bit confused and definitely got people killed with a Ninja early on after they'd gotten wiped out by a weird link inside the Jeuno palace. I held out by spamming my Vile Elixirs and switching over the Sanguine Blade. I guess for NINs you should OHKO them.

Got a little whacko and thought I wasn't gonna die but then another weird link happened that went for the main party and we all go caught up in it, and Sanguine Blade is good, but it ain't THAT GOOD lmao

Then I hit a Disjoined Mithra and got a WHM hit :( I'm the worst! (Didn't understand the tank was just gonna agro tank it(super as some would say). Whoops!

I wound up pulling the most hate on the final boss. It was unpleasant. My WHM was like, "DT SET PLEASE!" And I was like, "I've been full timing it since I took hate. >_<" But I didn't die. Close several times. My favorite thing about /sam sub is that Seigan Third Eye's anticipates will absorb entire multi-hit WSes. I kinda wish the elemental WSes would generate hate, these CORs getting to fire off blackhole lasers with reckless abandon, meanwhile I'm getting shrekt for doing resolutions that do half their damage. It was still fun as ***! I hope I get to go with them again. We had to kill the megaboss twice because a COR add healed it from like 40% to 100% HP.

The second one is correcting the other.

The thing is…. she corrects but its kinda harsh.

Like:, the first girl says something.

The second one: “DID YOU MEAN <correct sentence>?”. Her intonation sound like she is feed up with those mistakes.

Then the first one repeat what she said and correct herself.

Then the second one gives one more lecture about that.

I was reading this chapter in Video Girl Ai where is told that Youta could save Ais life, but at cost of risking his life.

He spent the entire chapter dealing with his fear of death. Conflicted about how true he wanted to save Ai, if he couldnt put his life on line.

Then, after seeing her, he accepted the risk. Saving Ai was more important than his own life.

Japan is a bad example. Japanese are better than everyone else, of course they prefer to hire their own. Any company that wants good results should hire Japanese. Why would they want a foreigner? It's like choosing a chihuahua over a german shepherd dog.

They used to be pretty strong economically like 30 years ago but they are mostly mid-tier in Asia atm, their projected GDP growth in 2024 is at 0.9%, which is pretty bad tbh. I wouldn't say Japanese employee is significantly better in every industry lol.

At least in terms of engineer/tech job position, Japanese is not preferred pick. Japanese engineer are known to have lower quality and salary than other east Asian competitors from what I've heard. Because they didn't focused on stem education that much recently.

Their creative(anime) industry is pretty strong, I'll give them credit for that. But it isn't enough to save their economy. High tech and manufacturing is the backbone of economy for developed countries, Japan isn't known to excel in those fields.
