From the way Jessie described it, sounded like they'd trickle out the expansions, so that the ongoing players would have to wait to unlock stuff like BLU, COR, DNC etc.
I guess that would at least mean that the people rushing up to 75 on it now would have to unlock and do lowbie EXP after those roadblocks are lifted.
But with their attitude towards NIN sub, RDM, and whatever other kooky ideas they've got going, still doesn't sound appetizing.
If I had friends I knew that were gonna play on it, I might give it a shot. But I don't, so I won't.
I mean, I guess it couldn't hurt to try it out. I'd feel like I was wasting my time though. And I'd probably do what I did for alts during college back in 2008/9. Back then, I'd just start in Sandy and level solo in Ghelsba because it had a lot of tight knit areas with mob levels ranging from 7 to mid-early 20s. I remember leveling an Elvaan alt there in the span of a couple of nights solo to 25 Monk. Can do similar in Bastok with Palborough, since it's got the boat that loops back to Zeruhn, which once you've hit low 20s, you can zone into Korroloka and solo worms to 25 a little bit faster than Ghelsba. I don't know enough about Windy and Horutoto, but lord knows Giddeus's arrangement sucks by comparison.
Then again, from what I've seen from some small youtubers posting LPs and similar things from other private servers, sometimes the private server devs change mob locations dramatically.
I'll just never understand the mindset, ever. I literally grew up in that era, have played since almost day 1 and I still don't want things to go back to that. I have done HNM, every single one, done all the end game, everything practically. I know that it will be impossible to get a game that had that magic, it was lightning in a bottle. These people just do not get that, they think they can do it with every derpy private server that pops up every couple of years.
They are just constantly stretching an already fractured playerbase and hurting retail over all. Such a shame, they should stop and support retail. It's always the same type of people running these things too, one of them I know from posting on BG. They have some kind of complex where they wanna be in the aery again and feel like they are top dog with their bots and clique. So sad honestly. If it isn't for HNM, you can't tell me that whacking crabs for hours endlessly or nether blasting Kirin to death over an hour or the same tired strats we used back then are fun. How many times can you do that before you get bored? lol
I'll have you know getting 10 exp a kill and watching NMs pop purple were the best days of the game! Not only would they pop purple, but they wouldn't drop the thing, so in 5 days, the same group would make it pop purple all over again for their next chance.
I never got into HNM scene, though my first experience with it was when I was EXPing in Chef Boyardee Tree and a pile of people went running by. Someone in party said Fafnir's window must be about to open and I had NO idea wtf they were even talking about. Party broke to go to Aery to watch. There was kinda smack talk, but nothing too serious. A bit of bitching that the audience of onlookers was causing lag, yadda yadda. About an hour or so later, this glorious dragon appeared on my screen. Whole lotta deaths happened and eventually a dragon went splat. Followed by a bunch of "Sword?" in say

They also intentionally gutted drop rates for the first few days, citing that they don't want the economy to overflow with items. This in addition to nerfing buying and selling prices at vendors and nerfing quest rewards has made it impossible for anyone to buy any gear.
I heard everyone started picking up fishing because sending Rusty Buckets to a mule in Bastok to make 200 gil per five buckets is the only way to make any money. And then they started banning people for doing that because it was an "exploit". LOL
From what I've seen in streams and through friends on Discord it sounds like a train wreck and I'm curious to see how long it lasts at this point.

Dear god. Did they want people to just kill beastmen for gil raw? 8 gil per Yagudo Interrogator yeehaw!
Canada's $1 got the nickname Loonie because it has a loon on it. So 30'ish years ago when they introduced a $2 coin, people thought "two" + "Loonie" = "Toonie".
Wait... so that's not the official name of our coins?!
That server is going to go down to <800 best within the next 2 weeks - I promise you. They may steal some from Nasomi and they may steal some from Eden, but at the end of the day, they're going to get bored.
Also, the thought of re-rolling on a private server in vanilla era these days literally sends hives down my body. Talk about going backwards in life.

I remember late 05/early 06 being told to stand in the corner and meditate/sleep pot to full TP and notify alliance when ready to fire off a Steel Cyclone. Just standing there in the corner, trading ***talk with the other DDs.
Meanwhile the mages, PLD kiters, and RNGs were doing steady work on the constantly running around Kirin. The most exciting part of all of it was the beginning when Kirin summoned the other Shijin.
Contrast with a year or so later. My first Kirin zerg. Done in a shout group. Just 13 or 14 physical DDs buffed out the *** taking it down in mere minutes. Quite the high.
When the value is the piece, there is no debate about it's value. It. Is. That.
No one should be able to sell it for more than that. And no one should be able to buy it for more than that.
A $2 coin is $2 period. A $5 bill is $5 period. A troy ounce of gold fluctuates only because it has no assigned value. If the mint slaps $100 on that troy ounce, it is now accepted as $100 period.
Even if you exclude Ebay, currency still fluctuate all the time though. It's normal in the market and not going away anytime soon unless our economy system change drastically.
For Example If I go to bank/foreign exchange outside of Canada and purchase $1 Canadian dollar, I will need to pay $1.02 to the bank. And if I sell $1 to the bank, I only receive $0.98. maybe in some country with less Canadian dollar available it fluctuates even more.
Since currency isn't available to everybody equally so we need to pay an additional price to the bank so the bank can get the currency for us.
And this is without limitation on certain condition. Add specific condition like "coins only" "brand new coins only" "coins with specific design" which makes it even harder to get then yeah, it's not surprising that it fluctuates even more in the market.
Unless physical money no longer exist and every country has unified currency, AND deposit/withdraw somehow magically cost $0 and accessable to everybody in the world, I see no way to stop that.
Also, when people post pics of newborns constantly everyday... I just think they look weird. Humans have some of the ugliest babies, only puppy pics allowed.
he's already going to do it, the poll is just a farce.
The new secret owner is Saudi Oil Prince 6969 and the new "owner" is some random white guy who will tweet less than dorsey.
6 million yes
4 million no
The gap widens, someone better release the bots if they want it to look real. That's really gotta sting the ego and ego is the only thing he's got. Amusing.

I know a few friends who already jumped in. All are new to FFXI (been interested in it but never got to try it out), except one veteran who quit since Abyssea.
I will join too to have fun watching them be noobs & get a taste of that sweet nostalgia before the inevitable Cease & Desist from SE.

A private server acts as little more than a unlimited free trial for the game proper, people who enjoy the game will be very likely to move to retail. It also gives the game a lot of free press from streamers and 'tubers.
There is really no downside since retail is objectively better, as much as it's fun to be a noob and spending 10 hours farming for dia and being totally reliant on other people for literally everything, it will get old after a while for most and when it does retail is there with a far more user friendly experience.
Also they don't even need to send a C&D, they just contact the server provider and ask them to take it down if they want to. Will be taken down within the hour, no server host is going to to say no to a company contacting over copyright abuse. Unless they try setup in Russia or something.
It actually hurts retail more than helps. Most of those people are so far into their "blue pill"they won't ever touch retail.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
