Yeah, they're similar in execution and syntax and you can fit in more lines than you can in XI. The only major difference is that they're not as optimal in combat.

The macro system in XIV is basically pulled straight out of XI, the only differences being that obviously gear commands do not work in combat and the syntax used.

XI's macro system has the same problems that XIV's does regarding the ability queue and inability to use fractions of seconds as intervals. This weakness is just made more clear due to the speed that XIV skills need to be pressed.

Examples of this weakness being relevant in XI were people claiming NMs out of the ability/spell menu rather than using macros, or chainspell stunning out of the menu. It was generally faster and more reliable than slamming a macro.

Actually that probably covers it. They are there but it’s different & not always practical to use such. Is what I’m gathering.

XIV macros can have up to 15 lines of text (I think), which is leaps and bounds more than XI's 6 lines if you think of quantity. If XI had 15 lines of commands per macros when it first came out, you probably would not have needed things like Windower and/or Gearswap to do all your gear swapping that we do now.

However, with the above being said, the only job that requires those 15 lines will be crafters, as you can queue up a rotation of commands that will guarantee a 100% HQ craft and then just semi-automate the crafting process by Starting the Craft --> Hit Macro --> Wait for Craft to Complete --> Restart the Crafting --> Repeat

You can but there has to be a <wait.x> between actions you wish to chain. <wait.1> often misfires, <wait.2> is standard.

The few combat macros that work have a bunch of things without a <wait>. They execute the first viable one.

Macros can work fine in combat. Once I switched over to 15 line macros I stopped having major issues with them firing.

People also use sprint macros made this way to get around it being unresponsive in combat sinc eit has similar buffering issues to macros.

I only know of that place because of Looney Tunes. I remember they made reference to it in an episode, but I didn't know "Walla Walla" was the name of a place until years later.

I have been there. South central WA.

A few small colleges, one has a viticulture program. A small, quite yupified, downtown. Pleasant despite an abundance of seventh day adventists.

I started the journey to take each job to Lv.99 to pick a "favourite" so I could maybe start focusing on one to properly gear-up and earn JP on and stuff. I'm almost done Dark Knight and then Paladin is last.

So far the only job I haven't liked was Monk. Even then, I think I was just geared improperly. So much for the idea of this narrowing things down. Probably going to start making spreadsheets, diagrams, pros/cons lists >_>;

Ugh, that sucks. Are you going to confront them about it or just hope they never need to smoke indoors again? The fact that it's family makes it extra awkward.

i hadn't seen them in two years. it'll likely be at least another year before i see them and no guarantee they'll come out to my house. i know they don't have the money to fix or replace the cushion. if i bring it up it'll just go negative. lose lose situation. wont do anything good if i contact them about it.

we left here and went to get dinner. she asked to get dropped off at the hotel instead of coming back to hang out. now i know why she was eager to not come back.
