was 74 yesterday -.-;;;;; got caught in this trying to go to the store. some kid went off the road in to some trees. had to to stop and check on em. thankfully no one hurt, helped push em out. i thought there would be no way this stuff would stick after a week of 70+, but here we are.

yeah, that's my house about 2ish hours ago. still a little bit coming down.

having a drink, cooking, eating, and watching the snow.

I like that the "~First and Final Line of Defense v2.0~" thread is always main page as PLDs twist their brains into pretzel shapes trying to think of how to just be sparks gear Runefencers.

Just kidding (mostly).

yeah. i said "i got you a book", got a funny look. gave her my phone with headphones and got an even weirder look. she started playing it, and started with confusion, to shocked, to super shocked, to laughing, to huge smile, to tears. they were very happy. did a separate file for each chapter. sent them a zip after they gave my phone back.

she gave me some golden king crab to play with.

Just realized. There are no such thing as MACROS in FFXIV or am I mistaken? I only remember simple commands rather than 6 lines of self created text allowing you to do multiple things w/ one input command.

Why would it need macros? You don't swap gear.

It just has skill buttons on a bar, it's like wow.

I actually enjoy the complexity of writing out my own Macros in 11. It only recently just dawned upon me realizing such doesn’t exist in 14 but just making sure I’m not going crazy cuz I ain’t played 14 in probably 10 years now.

Like I even got Macros just for VW Meds popping Stalwarts, Champions & Bravers every fight. So much better.

You can combine certain actions into 1 button. It's more useful for PlayStation players due to button bloat.

They are mostly used for crafting.

Being crafter / gatherer main I use them every day.

There is this bot camping the only thing that drops a THF's Testimony for Maat fight in Den of Rancor. Always there. At first I thought maybe some trash scrolls tops, but they would be tagged Rare and he never leaves.

Then it hit me. Someone has to be producing testimony items to the THF bots in sparks gear everywhere.

(If you're out of the THF loop, Thief's Testimony needs to be stolen if not from this NM and the steal is difficult and on a 5 minute timer).

Stupid RMT bamboozled me yet again.

Edit: Oh, and speaking of macros. I literally JUST realized that you can make a /check macro. It never occurred to me, but I just checked something and thought: man, I have that by muscle memory. Then I realized </check> is in the command list. Oh well. Not making one after nearly 20 years, but it's weird that I never thought of it before.

update: no snow lol, i was supposed to do inventory observation today, but told the lady yesterday i wouldn't go since it's snowing [i gave her the heads up 3 weeks ago that if it snowed, i ain't going because 1) from cali so i'm a noob at snow and 2) got into an accident a few years ago when asked by work to drive in snow]

to be fair, i am not even supposed to be doing observations because 1) signed on as remote only, 2) seniors aren't supposed to be scheduled for them

but still feel a bit poopy, it still feels taboo to tell work no/gfy

I personally use FFXIV macros as a means to use my single target oGCD buffs to apply them specific party members without having to target them (AST's Draw, WHM'S Divine Benison, SCH Fey Union, DRG Dragon Sight, PLD Cover etc etc.). It's a bit terrible at times due to the limitations of the FFXIV macro system, but it works.

FFXIV macros use similar syntax to FFXI macros so it's a pretty easy transition to learn if inclined.

Unlike in XI where macros can be highly efficient in combat, the XIV macro system has a problem in that you can't use macros to queue up a GCD action before the global cooldown resolves, so you are always losing DPS when you put GCD actions on macro.

That's not to say you can't do it, though. I'll sometimes have an "oh crap" macro for jobs that aren't rotation heavy (like Bard). It has a bunch of skills on one button so I can continue to use them as they come off cooldown without having to constantly look at my controller hotbar. It's very useful in unfamiliar fights where I need to pay attention to what is going on on the field, because I'll take 90% DPS efficiency over being, well, dead.

But as Chanti said, macros are fantastic for crafting.

There comes a point where "sunny" actually means "cold", depending on your latitude. As the earth tilts away from the sun and there's snow and ice covering every surface, the albedo of the planet is too high and the sunlight completely bounces off into space. When it's too cold, clouds are altogether unable to form above, so sunlight on a winter day here generally means "too cold for clouds".

We've actually kept our blinds closed thees last few days because the heat gained from the sun is negligible compared to the amount of heat lost through the windows when it's -43 degrees outside...

I know 14 has /emotes just like 11
So is it possible to create a macro cycling emotes via <wait> just for entertainment purposes?
If so then 14 Macros don’t sound all that different than 11 if you can fulfill a string of commands.
Crafting in 14 was probably my greatest experience while playing 14 compared to 11

That feel when you go on your lunch break to get food from a place that doesn't have online ordering, you pay for your food, and have to leave because you need to get back to work before your food is finished being prepared. 20minutes for a sandwich? Come on. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but the staff always treats me poorly. It's just makes me feel like trash. It's not, he wants a refund for goods not received, it's she. If you can't respect me enough to say she or there is some level of ambiguity, they is the default. Like usted in spanish. Now I really don't want to go back there to eat.

So it’s comparable to 11 macros but more limited? So cannot do 4-6 things w/ 1 single Macro? Actually that probably covers it. They are there but it’s different & not always practical to use such. Is what I’m gathering.

Estimation of my delivery wait time yesterday: 99-109 minutes. They were accurate with that estimate, but I didn't calculate it down to the minute. Food was cold. Missing items. Hell yeah I called for some credit on my next order.
