People are going crazy over some garbage games lately.

We used to have amazing stories in games, amazing gameplay, great graphics. Fallour 3-4, Skyrim etc

Now masses of people go ape over PUBG, Fortnite, fall guys, among us. Garbage.

Applied for a promotion at work to run a command Center for a local biotech firm and knew going in it was military grade but damn, they want me to shave daily (despite a mask covering my face) and shine my shoes daily.

Never shined my shoes in my life once lol

That shave daily ***is a deal breaker. It's what ultimately made me pick an entirely different college.

Shoe shine ain't even a 2 minute deal. Little brushie brush with some product and wipe it off, you're in. They even make "fast shine" kits now that you literally wipe on, one pass, bam.

This happens less if you bake them instead of microwaving, so they cook evenly.

I don't get near that but I'd go back to 30/4 for the same price if I could just drop comcrap.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid Epic are.

Why is shaving a deal breaker for you? Sensitive skin?

A couple fun little tidbits for those not familiar with Military Regs:

1. Men are required to be clean-shaven aside from a Mustache that does not extend beyond the corners of the mouth to ensure a safe gas mask seal. It has zero to do with grooming standards. Look at pictures of military men prior to WWI, the first large scale use of chemical weapons the United States encountered from an enemy- full beards all around.

2. Men with sensitive skin OFTEN (and I mean....REALLY OFTEN) get what's known as a "Shave Chit" from their doctor that exempts them from daily shaving.

3. If you were required to shine your shoes daily, see if they allow Corframs- the patent leather looking shoes that you'll often see in particular for performance groups in the Military (Military Bands, Color Guards, Honor Guards, etc). We didn't shine those suckers- a quick wipedown with a Windex Wipe and done.

I remember when Ninja kept tweeting about FFXI to his massive following, and a Square Enix Rep replied to him asking him to do the same for XIV. To which he said no.

Those shoes: "glass slippers" I don't think they're comfortable at all, especially in a standing/working 8 hour day roll. But there are dozens of other more comfy ones and/or kiwi "express" shine kit.

Yeah, they're horribly uncomfortable, feel like wearing formed plastic shoes vs pliable leather. Most of us musicians had a pair of both- regular leather issued shoes we polished for day-to-day wear, and a pair of corframs for performances. We weren't allowed to use the that Kiwi product on leather shoes for performance- either standard polish/shine, or corframs. The kiwi stuff works if you're going to do it literally every day- but if you can build up a good lustre on some true leather shoes it'll eventually last a week.

Those particular shoes are literally molded plastic lol.... or at least some synthetic plastic hybrid

yeah but when I was a wee lad of 24 and picked up a pair I expect at least a minor attempt at comfort! ;)

The worst thing about them was the crease. I got to wear them maybe twice before they had this horrible crease on the toe line... they looked like ***after that.

Like wrinkles in car paint... but it's unfixable.

You have to kinda walk without bending your toes to avoid it.

Yessss, after it becoming out of stock while ordering last year, and then people jacking the price to $600 on ebay, it finally became back in stock... But in Japan... It was worth the extra just to finally get it!


I.. just have to find a place where the cats won't barf on it...
