Fallout 4 melee playthrough is proving to be fun so far. I have pretty much just done the first couple sanctuary quests and got the necklace for the farmer neighbors. Outside of the chaingun/powerarmor fight in Concord I have only fired 1 bullet, to knock down a Nuka Quantum from a roof.
I was surprised that I have an easier time killing deer than with some of the start guns you get. Running up on them and hitting with a power attack does the trick nicely. I think I will have to fly solo though as accidently hitting Dogmeat is both frustrating and a little heartbreaking. Poor pupper's bones break quickly. Can't you get a mod that makes followers invincible?

Followers are actually immortal, but still take damage, and Dogmeat cries and whines in such a way that I feel like a monster if I hurt him.
