When I was a kid, I used to RP in the Yahoo chat rooms. I would get into it and I would play characters that were less... vampirey. One of the characters was a blind retired soldier. Another was a blacksmith and I used to do research (what little research was possible on the internet in 2000) into how to be a blacksmith. A part of me thought it was a noble job and I wanted to try it, but being around all that heat, I feel like I'd hate it. Still, this stuff you're posting is like porn to 14 year old me.
After taking some classes, really though, if the temperatures are cool, you really don't feel the heat even if you are putting pieces into the fire pot.
The smell of burning coal, the heated metal, hammers and anvils, it does get an addiction. I can't say it was worth anything since the classes used basic carbon steel stock to make things like horse shoes, candle holders and tongs.
Did you ever see the video I posted on someone melting aluminium cans and pouring them into a metal cast for ingots?
