Hard to upgrade laptops and not really worth it.


Also Slip do remember that all laptops have lower core clocks to compensate for the lack of cooling. But IMO both would hold you back from playing newer games, of the two though the CPU is worse.
considering what the socket would be you'd have to upgrade the mobo too, which would mean upgrading the ram, and numerous other things. It'd be a pita even if it wasn't a laptop.

yeah but on a desktop you wouldnt have to change because odds are her socket now would be am3 and easily upgradeable on AMD. That is what I have to say AMD does better than intel. Their compatibility of mobos on AMD desktops is much better than intel. Intel launches new boards/sockets every 4-8 months lol.

Unless you have a good sized disposable income <.< stay away from laptops for gaming.. Laptops that can handle serious gaming do not come cheap.

Desktops are very easy to upgrade, to keep up with the times, a good motherboard and CPU lasts a loooooong time, then you only have to worry about RAM/GPU.

Yeah that was my thought..I have this decent *ish* maybe? Desktop to upgrade and build around..nice solid casing etc so why not just make that one better? I DO like the convenience of using the laptop to game but meh, lets face it, I prefer my xbox <3

Do NOT go to Best Buy, you'll get ripped off.. If you have a Fry's go there, otherwise, stick to ordering it online on New Egg or Amazon.

Oh and when you are ready to get a new computer, you can just PM me or make a thread with your budget, I can find you the best deal you'll be able to get within your budget.

I am rocking a Gateway now on the laptop/ Dell on the desktop and

gateway on my dinosaur desktop ..I have to be honest I am a gateway fan :3

Not sure why, I just feel I have had better luck and consistency with the Gateway

but we have already proven I am iTarded

also OMG ITS PINK THATS FREAKING AWESOME i totally want the laptop that has the skins for the front

Well you won't always get ripped off, but a lot of their stuff is over priced.. They're not in the habit of making good deals. My PC came from Best Buy, but only because they had a good deal on an ASUS desktop.. To not get ripped off, you would have to be pretty technologically adept.. Just the general person is going to end up over paying when compared to going to other sources.

It's pretty rare to find a good deal at Best Buy, it's a lot easier and more reliable to just shop online.
