Did she just recently start showing her pain? I'd probably give it a week or two but after that, I have no advice, more appropriately, I don't want to say it.
I hope she gets better.

I hope she gets better. recently started limping badly. Already had trouble some mornings with her back legs not responding. so now back legs and front leg are no go. She has had a tumor on her chest for a long time, its growing onto her leg now. Wont put any weight on it.
Sucks since shes still all there mentally unlike my last dog, made that choice easier.

bad feels At what point is it not good to wait to see if she will get better. She is almost 16 and is having trouble walking and is in pain. I want to wait and see if she gets better, but maybe I shouldn't. Bad feels I dont know what to do When I had to put my oldest down, we had to do it in-home because he couldn't even stand up anymore. Gave him a couple of days to see if it was a bad kick of arthritis or the weather, but he never recovered and he was having accidents on himself which was causing him a lot of distress.
When the vets came to do it, they said he was probably ready to go up to a year ago, and some subtle things that he was doing were indicators. Like he would hesitate going up stairs, would have infrequent accidents around the house (which we thought was normal for dogs his age), etc.; if yours is exhibiting any of these problems, is having trouble getting up when she lays down, or anything like that... it might be time. I felt very bad when I realized he was suffering because I thought "well maybe he's okay, he's just old, this is normal".
He held on for so long, and I think he did it for me. He was restless and crying for the entire day until I laid down with him on the floor, talked to him, petted him, told him about all the things we did and all the places we saw throughout his life, he started to calm down. It took me over 2 hours but I finally managed to tell him that it was ok to let go, and that I'd miss him, but it was his time to go. As soon as I told him goodbye he quieted down, closed his eyes, and slept until the vets got here.
I don't think most people believe that your pets can understand you, but this event really made me believe that they know exactly what it is you feel and are saying. I'm not going to tell you what to do with your animal, but I suggest keeping an eye out for the symptoms and talking to a vet that deals with these things, even if it's over the phone. They'll probably tell you the same things that they told me.
I know it's hard, it isn't easy to say goodbye to a friend you've had almost your entire life. My puppy was with me for a majority of my childhood, and saying goodbye to him was almost as difficult as saying goodbye to my dad. But I felt terrible knowing that my ignorance made him suffer for so long, even if he didn't seem like he was.
She'll understand.

She'll understand. Really hard keeping my eyes dry reading that :( So far we pick her up to go outside to make sure she makes it regularly. One time we waited too long and she just went all over my bf while he held her. She has accidents when I am not home. I don't want to admit it. I guess im just being selfish. I will talk to my parents tonight to try to go to the vet tomorrow and see what they say. Thank you for your reply.

I know how hard it is and talking about it now even a year later has gotten me all emotional. I like to think that he's up there with my dad now, so at least he isn't alone.

as much as it sucks, it's better to put them down and not have them suffer through more pain just because you 'want to wait' the longer you wait, the more they suffer, and the more it will hurt in the end.
it's a shitty situation, been there :(
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
