Sensei means teacher, Senpai is "upperclassman" (in that bracket), while Kouhai is "Underclassman" (in that bracket)

Classman is restrictive. It's just senior and junior.

that's why I added (in that bracket) for a reason. It's the same line of things where people are your seniors/juniors. And why I used the words in quotations.

That's a lot of assumptions I was supposed to make and way out of my league of reading between the lines.

Sensei is sorta complicated to explain. I can understand it well cause it's used about the same way as doctor is in my dialect(not italian). It's more in reference of a status than an actual career.

Sensei is sorta complicated to explain. I can understand it well cause it's used about the same way as doctor is in my dialect(not italian). It's more in reference of a status than an actual career. The best way to explain it would probably be an elevated/honorable position, sorta like when someone has a doctorate but not as high of a requirement.
Senpai, as it's already been said is simply someone above you, usually in years of experience but it can also simply be a higher position in say a company.

Quote: In general usage, it is used, with proper form, after a person's name, and means "teacher", and the word is used as a title to refer to or address teachers, professors, professionals such as lawyers, CPA, doctors, politicians, clergymen, and other figures of authority. The word is also used to show respect to someone who has achieved a certain level of mastery in an art form or some other skill: accomplished novelists, roasters, musicians, artists and martial artists, for example, are addressed in this way.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
