Which SNES emulator do you guys recommend using? I used to use something called SNES9X. I'd like one with a Turbo mode, but IIRC, the Turbo mode in SNES9X was super fast, and you couldn't adjust the speed.
I never use/used Turbo mode so not sure on that part.

ZSNES was and still is the best SNES emulator for the PC.
SNES9X is basically the go to emulator that was made for porting to pretty much any device/system.

Both are great and work near perfectly.

But ZSNES was originally made 100% in ASM and thus always had a slight edge over SNES9X, especially in reliability and speed.

I remember when the ZSNES team finally decided to make a windows port, that's when they had to use some C++. However, the core is still 100% ASM. It's a shame they stopped working on it.

SNES9X, I think, still has the occasional sporadic update. They definitely continued to work on it way past when the ZSNES team retired. However, SNES9X changed hands maybe a year or two after ZSNES retired.

Summary is both are great. On PC ZSNES has an edge in performance that can't be beaten (ASM core) and if I recall compatibility. The latter could have changed with the latest versions of SNES9X. SNES9X is the go to for porting to any device that can handle it.

znes is rather outdated, I don't know anyone who still uses it.

I'd pretty much go with SNES9x, or if you want accurate BSNES.

You need to do 2.55's story and buy Heavensward to unlock the level cap and you were pretty far behind on story from what I remember (since you ignored it even though I told you to do it)

Coils: 0

Story, well I got all the way up to the story line where you had to try to stop the dragon with cannons and harpoons but kept getting people that would drop out or wouldn't ask what to do.

So that's where I was at....'Steps of Faith'

YouTube Video Placeholder

You don't need to do Coil to continue >_> Just beat Steps of Faith and do some cutscenes and you can progress. Steps is super easy. They nerfed the crap out of it so you attack the boss > shoot adds with cannons > snare it before it jumps up > keep attacking it with cannons and normal damage and it dies really quickly

Emulators like ZSNES are a f***** disaster because they screw the way people hack roms. Because of it's inaccuracies there are plenty of romhacks which only work in it.

When "repro" making became popular people started to wonder why the hacked games would not work on the real thing. That's my main gripe with these older emulators. They had their place in history but avoid them now. People still use them only to play these romhacks.

An accurate emulator (something like BSNES, for example) would fail playing a flawed romhack for the same reasons the said game fails running on the real hardware.

Do you prime the pieces first? They have grey flat primer paints if not--it allows the paints (usually glossy enamels) to stick better to the plastic, or to allow coats. Also maybe consider using sprays for the enamels.

The flat (i.e. non-shiny) colours tend not to have that issue.

EDIT: Or the issue is the paint itself is too 'tacky' and adheres too much to the plastic? If so, you can always thin it out with paint thinner (not too much.)

I've only ever fiddled with one romhack and that's Parallel Worlds.

I never hacked ROMs, just played the game so I have no experience in that area. As far as just playing the game with near perfect reliability and speed, ZSNES is the way to go. If you do all that other stuff then clearly SNES9X. 100% solid ASM engine took a lot of effort and dedication.
