Don't know why somebody is using a computer that can't handle a browser, I mean what is it a P3?
Yea . . . I said while I'm playing XIV :\ Thanks for the jab though.
Think I finally found a minimalist browser worth keeping around when I can't afford the resources to use chrome (playing games, etc).
What be this?
It's called Maxthon Nitro [
site] and from the looks of it, it seems to be chrome stripped down to the bare essentials, without hogging resources. Normally this wouldn't be an issue since computers are more than capable of running chrome, butwhen you're doing a variety of activities I find it nice to have at least a responsive browser, until I replace this computer (soon).
Here's FFXIAH:
Thinks I like:
- Instant start up even with CPU nearing / at max
- Very responsive
- Supports HTML5
- Thin / No width borders, it focuses on displaying the website rather than pushing UI in your face.
It seems to be focusing on temperary sessions, becuase it obviously doesn't have any extensions or special featuers. Also, no settings or options, so definetly not your permanent browser. It has a portable version though.
Here is Process Explorer after having the browser open for ~48 hours, opening and closing ~40-50 different tabs, leaving with only 5 open for the past 10 hours since I was at work.
I like it, it's a very simple browser, but displays webpages properly just as chrome would. It's definetly not you main browser with plugins / extensions / password management / etc, but does what it was meant for very well, and that's opening the browser, finding out what you need while having full HTML 5 support, and that's it. I'm sure there's people who really only want that out of a browser today, and would even use Nitro as their main, though I'm too attached to my extensions after so many years of using them and expecting them for my web browsing.
