I don't have friends anymore ._. I literally have 1 friend now, and he's not the type to do that kinda thing, I can't drive, and my wife is deathly afraid of water short of a bathtub, so she definitely wouldn't go doing it. Going with my mom is pretty much the only way I'll ever be able to go.. /suspects it's Low T Low T? o.0

I understand acknowledging internet lingo as having definition, but by no means does that make them printed dictionary word legitimate.
They're slang, and only slang.

I hate the fact that they're willingly adding those in, but seeing sammich as an actual word made me laugh.

Though to be fair, I've never even heard Twittersphere until now, so that one might be too ridiculous.

Just bugs me how tools at Oxford acknowledge ridiculous internet lingo as actual words, worthy enough to be put in the dictionary, when they belong only to an isolated atmosphere of communication: the internet.
Perhaps it's spread like a disease enough to the point where we say things like "BRB" and "LOL" in everyday speech.

It's a little odd that so many of you are concerned with dictionaries, definition, and the etiquette of word-dom, when by definition those terms are undeniably words. Whether they are proper or not is up to the individual.

All from a similar base. Just like the Nordic languages are all extremely similar yet slightly different because of evolution based regionally over time.
You can call adding words stupid, but if it's used by a large enough portion of the population, you're stupid for not noticing your own language evolve before your eyes.

It's what happenes when you get Nord Germanic and Latin combined into one wacked job language...though technically Nord is Germanic but I mean nord being northern Germanic and Germanic as the Germany region aka southern Germanic.

was about to argue that old german was pretty close anyways, but so was old norse, so that invalidates my arguement =(

I use phrases like "omg" and "idgaf" in normal conversation all the time. And I am not ashamed in the least. It doesn't make me any less intelligent or even less articulate.
Like Urial said, it's evolution before our very eyes. And its only right and proper to partake in such.
