IRS decided to totally *** up the repairs/maintenance regulations and required people to have to start capitalizing certain items that fall under a specific criteria. Won't go into details about the regs, but what that means is that
every single business return in the nation now has to change their accounting standards to comply with the new regulations. That means having to file an 8 page form called Form 3115 - Change in Accounting Procedures. IRS said earlier in the year that everyone has to file this form.
Jump ahead to this week: My firm decided "*** it, we are tired of fighting this, let's all spend a week and get all of our business returns and specific 1040s to file a Form 3115 just so we don't have to worry about it when filing the returns." So, that's what we were doing all week.
IRS just now (within the past 30 minutes) issued a press release that basically said that you don't have to file a Form 3115, because
they were getting flooded with them.
God *** damn IRS.....This is why you have people flying
airplanes in IRS buildings....
