I have yet to come across any issue with windows 8.1, I rather like the OS.

Windows 8 IS an issue. You just don't realize it. Next time I need a new PC, if the OS on it has that *** squares home screen, I'll probably try to replace it with Linux.

People are so upset over the enlarged start menu, it's a bit ridiculous. Not only are there settings to change it, but you can download a start menu program for free and get your precious start menu back with the rest of what Windows 8.1 is.

yea, "you shouldn't have to download a 3rd party software to get what you want", but they chose to go with a design that is easily fixed if you disagree with it.

I think it's more harmful to you in the long run by not knowing how to get around an operating system because you want to stay hip and run your XP's. When the time comes for you to navigate the OS, you'll be slower.

I think you can only benefit by learning the OS, not that you should own every new Windows they seem to be throwing around now.

If you learn how to use the OS, and you find that you just would rather have it a different way, then you can say you actually know instead of a lot of these impulse reflexes I see from people when they are disgusted with the tile start menu.

IDK, just my opinion. The OS has yet to fail me and in many cases I prefer it over 7. I find some simple lil changes that work faster than they did on 7, and overall I'm happy with the product. 7 was nice and saved us all from the crap that was Vista, but that doesn't mean 7 couldn't be improved. Even with Windows 10 coming out they listened to customers and brought the official start menu back.

I just don't get all the hate, and don't know why people embrace it so much instead of trying something new.

My PCs have Vista and 7. I use the laptop with 7 more. My dad, mom, and sister have Windows 8 so I never really mess with it until they break stuff. I know the OS is functional but the point is that the design is more geared towards touchscreens while not all of the PCs loaded with Windows 8 is touch screen which brings us to why people are pissed over it, the squared start screen is included in non-touchscreen applications thus requiring a third-party program to have a PC that isn't annoying to navigate. It screams laziness. The start screen can obviously be turned off so why was it included with non-touchscreen PCs? It's laziness. Besides that, I find the OS to be sluggish and I am the one who set all three of them up, out of the box, before they were connected to the internet.
