I was thinking of playing Chrono Trigger again and saw Chrono Cross, that's how I started looking at other PS1 games.
I remember when I first got my PS1, the first ones could play import games and ended up with a copy of the Sailor Moon fighting game because one of my friends wanted to see it. At that time, i didn't know it was a limited release til they re-released the game later.
One game I loved that my friends absolutely hated, which I still own, is King's Field. I caught so much flac for it, but it's one that I still have and play once in a great while.
My first PS1 games were Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Cross.
Played the hell out of Chrono Cross, must have done about 7 play-throughs, got every character and a rainbow weapon for all of them.
Then I played FF7. It was okay, pretty decent for an RPG, the Materia system was the high point of the game, but for me Chrono Cross was the ***.
Here's another classic I love. Known to some as Tales of Eternia, but my case is the one pictured.
