Wanted to buy a decommissioned UPS truck and convert it to a 3-man RV with on-board propane system, and white/gray water, no bathroom for simplicity. Found out that UPS can use trucks for upwards of 20 years and upon decommission, they are stripped of usable parts and crushed beyond recognition to
"preserve the company image."
Personally, I think crushing a truck that could easily be repurposed is wasteful and makes the company look obsessive and paranoid. Even Police departments sell their fleet cars and they could be abused to a further extent than a UPS truck. (In my county you can buy used squad cars that have been stripped of their spotlight(s), console, and lights. You can buy all of these components at the same auction.)
EDIT: They are also stripped of their decals, which can also be bought online.
