So. I have one of those soft, snuggly blankets with the pictures on them. Mine is a crouching black panther. And it has this black trim sewn along the edges.
Well, I've had this blanket for years now, almost eight years I think, so I don't mind that the trim started to pull off the edges. When a couple of feet were pulled off though, I was afraid that one of my pups might get tangled up in it and be strangled. NOPE CANNOT DO.
So! I have a sewing machine! I thought. I can fix this! I thought. So I argued with my machine until we got black thread loaded, I argued with the machine and blanket until the blanket was situated in the machine. I realized that I forgot to put pins in to hold the trim in place while I sew. I argued with the machine and the blanket until the blanket came out of the machine. I used up every pin I own trying to hold the trim to the blanket. I made my husband facepalm when he checked my progress and noticed that several of my needles did not have that little bulb on the end (apparently there's a difference between a pin and a needle? What the what?) I argued the blanket back into the machine. I realized I had no idea what I was doing.
So... I argued the blanket back out of the machine, removed the needle/pins/pokey things, cut the loose trim off with scissors, washed the blanket, and put it back on the bed. Leave off my poor sweet blankie, needles!
Anyways. The moral of the story is, I've had my sewing machine for two years and still have no idea what exactly I'm supposed to be doing with it. ;; And now the trim on the other side is starting to pull off. LEAVE OFF MY BLANKIE I SAID.
Happy Friday! ^^
