Xax, are you Surface of Subs? I'm a Sub-Vol, and I wouldn't worry. I never act high and mighty around anybody. Not even the *** ups around here.
I'm a surface MM. I was on CVN-65 (wont say the name here, look it up if you want and you will see why) for 5 years, worked down in the Main Space. The non-qual E-6 i mention was kind of.....yeah. We wrapped up the '07 deployment and went into the shipyards. He came on board around the time we first entered the yards/dry dock. He came as a 3rd class, star re-enlisted for second, and picked up 1st on his first test. He had never been to sea, was not actually qualified anything (i was qualed and had been on the last deployment) and acted like he was high and might for picking up first on his first try. I even got written up for bad mouthing him by a first class i actually respected. Funny thing was tho that even while writing me up he mentioned how the guy i was being "Disrepectful" really wasnt a first and still had alot to learn before he could "take charge." TL;DR: i don't really have much respect for most nukes of any rank except chief, because they pick up rank WAY too fast and have minimal experience.
Your reasoning for not saying its name makes me sad. :<
Every time i say "I served on the Enterprise for 5 years" i get every manner of star trek joke and reference tossed my way. Was funny the first 20 times, after that it got beyond old and tiring. So, because of that, i now just say "I served on CVN-65 for 5 years"
Most of my instructors in Power School were respectable, but most of them were 11 year~20+ year service members. Was a real privilege being taught by most of them. My Chief in Power School served on the Enterprise. He was laid back and awesome. Was in going on his 19th year last year. In fact, my classroom had pictures of a carrier, not the Enterprise, labeled as the Enterprise. Complete with CVN-65 :P So I knew~ I've still got to make it through hold and prototype before I get to a boat. The command is making my hold period more a nightmare than it should be though. Prototype sounds rough to me, so not looking forward to that either, but oh well xD
What was that Chiefs name? I might have served with him. I know a few Chiefs who went to teach

Chief Harris. Bald white guy. MMn Chief.
I know him, he was my Chief down in 2 Plant when i first went down to M-Div from A-Div. He was always talking about computers and WoW. Even gave me some old RAM for a computer i had built. He probably would be shocked to know where i am now and what i do.
Long, long ago, when the internet was at its very earliest stage and computers ran off of mastodon oil, there was a site called "Ebaum's World". This site predated YouTube as the primary video streaming site, and a gentleman with his friends (known as Fenslerfilm) took old G.I. Joe PSAs and added their own soundtrack to them, making some of the funniest videos the internet had ever seen. This is just a few of my favorites:
Is this what I think it means? I need to go to one of those services. I'd imagine one of the chanted prayers would go like, "Shut the *** Donny, amen."
Bought a new laptop, it has windows 8. It doesnt even have a full 2 hours of operation time and i already want to shoot the laptop for having windows 8. Tried to go buy windows 7, but they dont sell the english version around here, not on base and cant find it off base. Tried to look for a digital download, OFFICIAL download since i want it legit, and they appear to only sell physical copies, which i dont want to buy and have shipped since i would most likely be back in the states by the time it gets here to japan. blargh! I want windows 7 back so i can install my games and be able to play them while my desktop is shipped back to the states with the rest of my stuff.
I remember hearing about Ebaums world and even been there once or twice, but since i didnt have my own computer with internet till i was 17 i missed out on its glory days.
I was more of an outdoorsy kid anyways. Always camping and fishing and getting into trouble.
I have recieved damn near every time of injury a kid can recieve except broken bones, drank too much milk i guess.

I didn't have a computer either, but my friends did and I was always at their place watching these videos. But yeah, sorry. I just like to add some flair to the concept that this was pretty early into the mainstream internet's life.
Install the fake one as a 2nd operating system, then when you get back to the states you can buy a legit version and replace the fake one. Or just tweak windows 8 to act like 7, which I'm very sure you can.
I been trying the tweaking. Hasnt been that successful so far and it is extremely aggrivating as windows 8 wants to remain windows 8. The first thing i did was get rid of its version of "start menu." taking the entire damn screen just for it to display a mess of options was bad.
windows 8 appears to be damn near online exclusive, everything about it begs for internet access. It also eats up more memory and processor power than i have ever seen. It seem's unstable as i tried to close a few programs that run in the background and it froze. Basically it acts alot like windows Vista when it came out, just more aggrivating and has EVERYTHING hidden.

Not a problem Mag. I may be able to build a computer from scratch and do a few other things, but i am still pretty Novice at the internet and other things like that. Hell, It took me forever to swap out IE for Firefox. I mainly just use the internet for video games ^^;

You and I both, sir. I'm not a computer guru by any means. This is why I stick to consoles. If I can't point and click my way out of anything, then I can't fix it.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
