Haven't tried that yet, but I've been duoing with a THF since about 30ish and it's an AWESOME combination, especially now that he has Collaborator and Accomplice and can pull hate off of me when my face is getting stomped on lol

Drain Samba III ftw, 15-20 HP regen with every swing...very nice ^^

Curing Waltz IV is fun @_@ with Relic head + AF body you do about 680~700ish waltz IV, I'd love to get the roundal earring XD add that +5% extra curing waltz potency to all of that and you'd have a {Incredibly Tough} Waltz

SE definitely needs to consider better cap-75 jug selection.

Lv.75 jugs
Courier Carrie (Good Def)
Homunculus (Good Attack)
Voracious Audrey (Good Debufs)
Ambusher Allie (Good attack)
Panzer Galahad (Good Def/Attack)
Lifedrinker Lars (Good Attack)
Chopsuey Chucky (Not sure, I thought this jug sucked in all depts)
Amigo Sabotender (Never used, but 1000 needles is sexy)

Lv.75 jugs with Beast Affinity Lv.5
Funguar Familiar (Good Attack, Debuff)
Shellbuster Orob (Hmm?)
Coldblood Como (Haven't tried)

Lv.73 with Beast Affinity Lv.5
Flowerpot Ben
Saber Siravarde

I think we have plenty to choose from, although what BST wouldn't want a slime pet =D I think what SE needs to do is allow us to choose which Sic move our pets will do. That alone would be the best BST upgrade ever.

You are either completely missing my point or simply ignoring it.

First, there are not many jugs that cap at 75 WITHOUT taking into account Beast Affinity merits.

Second, of the ones other than Courier Carrie...

MOST of them are ridiculously expensive (Allie runs about 4k per jug).
MOST of them are usually in very short supply (Good luck getting a stack of Allie jugs).

So, I'll qualify my statement and say...

"there need to be more reasonably usable jug pets that cap at 75"

Funguar Familiar is an extremely potent DD, and while it used to cap at 55, at least SE raised the cap to 65, meaning that with full BA merits, you can jack it up to 75.

In addition to that, it can be bought from and NPC for roughly 1k per jug, and in whatever supply as your wallet allows.

Now, if you happen to be on a server where you can just swing through the AH and grab a stack of Homunculus, or Allie, or Lars for like 10k, then bless your BST heart. But my server isn't that way, and I'd wager that very few of them are.

Caitsith is like that too, You need to know someone very well or have a fat wallet OR be very good at camping those particular jugs on the AH..They are rarely in stock =/

Copied from XI wiki:

When the Beastmaster Job Ability "Call Beast" was added with the Rise of the Zilart expansion, many of its Jug Pets (excluding the CoP ones) were added in the April 2003 update. Five Jug Pets, however, have sat idle in the game's files, unable to be crafted because they lack recipes. To date, they have not been added, nor does it appear there are any plans for them to be added. They are:

Lucky Lulush (Rabbit, possibly of another color)- Lucky Carrot Broth (Lv23)
Coeurl Familiar (Coeurl)- Brain Broth (Lv38)
Fatso Fargann (Leech)- Foul Blood Broth (Lv43)
Swift Sieghard (Slime or Hecteyes)- Mellow Bird Broth (Lv53)
Crafty Clyvonne (Coeurl)- Cunning Brain Broth (LV63)
==============================================================================

It's too bad really. I would love to have more jug pets around, especially Coeurls and Slimes, that'd be so useful without being game breaking overpowered in my opinion.

Yeah slimes are a *** to charm in general, but make wonderful pets considering their decent TP moves and melee damage resistance and relatively decent HP. Having a jug for instant and prolonged use would be BST's best friend.

Yeah, from a programming angle, not sure how they would implement Sic choice, but it would be sweet (Maybe Jaerik has some ideas).

I don't think they could do it by name, but maybe something like:

Sic1, Sic2, Sic3, etc.

Then we'd just have to learn which is which for a given mob. It would be sweet to be able to always use Dark Spore or Silence Gas with a full HP Funguar, or to selectively use enfeebles.

However, I just don't see it happening /sadpanda.

Heh, BSTs would take over the world if they could choose their Sic moves. While we're at it, why not give song/roll/samba/BP effects to pets as well lol.

I hate BST...
I'm at that point where the only jobs that I haven't leveled are the jobs that I hate, and besides BRD (Which I'm so going to hate going through the dunes on) BST is my lowest. Currently at 17 and I can't even stand to look at it. Getting Maat's Cap will be a bit complicated...

none of you bst haters ever heard of a jug burn party??? talk about fast exp... it's like a meripo at the lvl of your choosing.
and, a bst with a pet can outdamage most poor excuse for DDs out there if they use a pet other than CC and actually use melee gear, not chr gear... i don't see why they don't get invites (they don't hurt the xp...), they get access to the same gear war does, and have a pet to boot...

I recently exped with a BST on colibri. His performance wasn't half bad, the only downside was his jug pet was pulling most of his weight as far as damage goes, but if his rampages were a lil more accurate he'd out DD almost anyone with combined pet damage. But it made my life as thief so much easier thanks to having a SATA partner and quickly transfered hate via Snarl.

Ninja edit: my second comment on making my life easier as a THF just goes to show they have good utility beyond just DDing. Their pet Sic moves can effectively debuff and even temporarily tank (for shadow recasting moments) and even pull if need be.

You kinda answered your own thought. That's exactly WHY they don't get parties. BSTs are lazy by nature and rarely think to pick up DD gear as well as solo gear.
