just saw a blm doing 5k + in abyssea with ice trail staff just how powerful are the pucking staffs? my ice 5 only do around 2400 with 50int. boost atma, my question is how much stronger are these staffs over say jupiters staff?

You would do about 2600 damage with it. The reason why they do 5k blizzard 5 is Atma of the beyond.

Beyond/Minikin/Ultimate + decent gear and lv90 ice staff = 5k+ dmg

Iceday + obis / pants boosts that even moar:D

To answer about the staff, Indra +1 is twice as powerfull as a normal HQ staff.
HQ = +15% dmg
Indra+1 = +30%

Ultimate atma sucks. Dunno why ppl even use that

ultima give 50 magic att. bonus sounds pretty good to me

Ultimate is awesome. Question is, what do you do OUTSIDE of Abby? And Dorje is ftw as far as staffs go. Get 1 or gtfo.

Sure if you have no elemental staffs... pretty sure at this point NQs beat it forget HQ and trial staffs lol. Fight PW or buy a few staffs for 5k each... hmmm yeah

There is a 7 INT difference between a hume and a taru at 90.

You trolling son? staves aren't 30MAB, they're 15% Elemental Damage Affinity for HQ elemental staves, and 30% for fully completed magian staves. Dorje is a joke and doesn't come close.

I don't recall ever saying anything about a thirty MAB... I listed Dorje's +25 MAB. and int does matter, lol.

I didn't need magian staff to break 5k blizz5's on bluffs. The real damage boost is from Beyond, before I had it, I was only doing 3.5k Blizz5(minikin/ultimate). Of course, decent gear does help, lol. Although I wish I did have magian ice staff, because it would be pretty sexy :\

there is no comparison, varuna+2 gives 30mab, dorje only 25. i guess if you're lazy and only want to carry 1 staff around this would be ok...but i think most of us want to be better than an 'ok' blm, or at least i'd hope.

as for breaking 5k, thats easy. with beyond, MM and ultimate you should wonder why you dont.

i had a af proc for 14,060 on a licorice mob on ice day in aby la theine. now that made my eyes go wide.

Varuna+2 does not give +30mab, it gives +30% dmg.

Now let's see, just put in my amount of mab with 150 int vs a random mob with 150 int(alot I know, int numbers dont mean anything right here)

Burst II HQ staff -> 1535 dmg

Burst II Dorje -> 1512 dmg.

A HQ(+1/2) magian staff is twice as potent as HQ staff.

Jesus the amount of ignorance concerning MAB in this thread is disturbing. MAB =/= Elemental Staves/Magian Staves Damage Bonus.

Except that MAB have decreasing returns.
So no, 1 mab is not the same as +1% total dmg.

Ugh, no hes correct in a sense, he is just wording it differently or you are misinterrupting what he is saying.

What he meant by that, is staves and mab increase the damage the same however due to them being on different steps of the calculation you get more out of one than you do the other.

100 *1.30(staff) = 130
100 *1.30(mab) = 130

100*1.30*1.30 = 169
raise either staff or mab by 1% and you get the same thing:
100 *1.30 *1.31 = 170
100 *1.31 *1.30 = 170


The reason why mab staves arent comparing to the staves themselves is because the mab amount that its being added to is already at a high level that the actual increase is diminishing. While the staff base is already low(0 considering you have to add the staff itself to get any %)

So to even compare with 30% increase from a staff, you would need around 75-80+ MAB.....

Well yeah, but in the end it's not the same :P
