Kid won't even feel pain by the time he went to bed. That wasn't really an asswhooping. The only part of his body that might hurt in the morning was his hand he stupidly put in the way. It's obvious the uncle was trying to scare the ***out of and humiliate him. Not physically abuse him. Anyone trying to get that kid's uncle in trouble is being silly.

Ya saying you stayed home all night playing Final Fantasy 11 Online is a lot cooler.

People have got into deep trouble for a lot less.

Yeah, but I really don't think the uncle is doing it with intent to do physical harm. The police have worse people to prosecute than an uncle with an unorthodox way of going about disciplining an obviously deserving nephew.

I don't think his intent is relevant. I'll be surprised if nothing comes of this. Not like I'm going to keep track though, lol.

Oh, this was interesting.

Sparked an interesting debate here too, which I like.

I applaud the prevailing sentiment among posters in the thread concerning how most parents are too lazy or self-absorbed or stupid to provide quality parenting/supervision, and that "at least this belt guy is paying attention".

However, even with that said, after you're done laughing at the video, take a step back and think it through. All that belt whipping is really ridiculous and unnecessary. There's better ways to make a point with (most) teens than through the use of physical violence.

Rate down if you want, I really don't care in this case.

Lazy/Stupid/Self-absorbed parenting = bad parenting, yes.
But whipping someone with a belt more than a dozen times = ALSO bad parenting.

getting my *** beat with a belt by my dad did more for me then any grounding, stern words, or any restrictions my mom/stepdad did. while i don't really condone corporal punishment, there are times where its more effective.

As a kid my father used to belt me when I got in trouble and I thank him for it. The level of discipline with the current generation of teenagers/kids is so low more parents should follow this guys example.

Actions have consequences. Problem with most western people now-a-days is the fact that they can't concede to the fact that they are doing something wrong, even if it's blatantly obvious. Think of it like this, if corporal punishment didn't happen back in the day, where would we be today? It's a lot easier to understand in a human perspective that if you do something bad or wrong that you get hurt as a consequence. Is fire bad because it can burn you? No, it provides the best sort of example. You touch it, you get burned. If people weren't so selfish and spoiled, America and the rest of Western society would be a lot better off.

This leads into another debate about politics, about people wanting things but not earning them. Bad parenting = bad people. Bad people = failed society. People need to learn that there are consequences and no, the police aren't the only ones to mete punishment.

Rate me down as much as you want, it's the truth. You let people do whatever they want, they end up shitting all over other people and not understanding that they did something wrong. I totally agree with this kid's uncle and in all honesty would wish his father did it instead.

I was raised more or less with the non physical punishment method. At least that was my grandmother's way of doing it (who raised me) I've gotten my *** whooped over the years when I'd got to visit my Mom.

Looking back on it, I can honestly say I wish I had my *** whipped more than I did.. I was a bad kid, and I was bad because I knew I could get away with it, the only punishment I got was grounding, and even that worked against her (and even me) eventually.. The more I was grounded the more I got used to being by myself, not needing/wanting friends around, until at some point the scales tipped and I didn't even need to be grounded to be found by myself.

That solitary mentality is still something I struggle with today... It's extremely hard for me to show my love and affection for people just because I've been trained to live isolated for so many years. Do you think anyone who tries to get close to me really even understands why I have trouble expressing my emotion? I don't think they do..

You can try and say there's a better way than physically based punishment, but the simple fact of the matter is that different kids will respond differently to different treatment. Should all kids be spanked as punishment? No.. Do I think none should? No.

I wouldn't say I'm against violence, but I will usually only use it when cornered (probably due to my upbringing****) I try to explore all other means to solve a problem first.. The simple fact is, sometimes a kid needs to get his *** whipped. Anyone who is against it 100% is no less foolish than those who think it's the only solution.

**** = That's not justification enough, IMO to keep from using physical forms of punishment. The effects I've suffered due to the punishment that was used on me as a kid have proven to be even worse than those produced by my brothers who were raised by the hand.

No my parents didn't fail, I was a bad kid always in trouble with the police etc. It has nothing to do with any kind of failing.

Im glad they did it, and if the time comes I'll happily do it to my own kids. You may not agree with it but it works.
