To change your avatar, all you have to do is go to Edit Chars in the Members menu, then upload something (Second option on the page).

And that avatar would be pretty cool if we had a working .gif signature thing, but that just ends up lagging pages too much.

But we don't, which is why I'm not using it :o

So use something else and I'll rate the hell out of you. c.c

Tangential response to comments earlier in thread:

We will not be adding signature pictures to the forums. They are annoying and take up far too much space/bandwidth.

There is also a security concern. Our forums are home-grown and written from scratch, because all of the major out-of-the-box forum solutions have serious security vulnerabilities that could potentially open our users' account info to hackers.

In the past, we've discovered that even when warned in big giant letters during registration not to use the same username and password for their FFXIAH.com account as their main PlayOnline credentials, a disturbingly high percentage of users continue to do so. We can't change our users' behavior, so our only option is to be ruthless about our account security.

(Incidentally, this is also one of the reasons we are hosting all avatars on our own servers now, and why signature pics will not be joining them.)

I give Wooooody a 1/10 because hating on your avatar is like the new cool thing to do. Every thread I've visited says something bad about it.

Amen, the safer and simpler the better. No need to compromise something so important for nifty but unnecessary features.

It's good that we can't have them. I don't like to have to scroll past a 1024x768 screenshot of someone ingame after every post.

I understand, people with a small IQ tend to go with the crowd ;)

PS. I hate signatures as well. How many animated "I HAZ DARK SEVENFIVE SAM SEVENTWO FLASH FLASH COLOURS BLINDING LIGHTS LOL" would we have to put up with every thread then?

I give yours a 2, because franctly it's too hard to tell what it's of. There's not really any defining feature nor is there much colour to make it sparkly. If you hadn't linked to the full-size picture I'd still have no idea what it was!

The only reason it's not 1 is because it has the enigma factor about it.
