if any of you have seen higurashi (BOTH seasons) i really recommend umineko no naku koro ni. though the ending... well there is no ending >.> it will blow your mind at some of the characters in it and their significance to higurashi. also a very interesting and pretty scary story
Higurashi is a insane series but unfortunately I've yet to get around to watching Umineko. I expect it is also quite insane?

its.. well not as f'ed up as higurashi XD though it is more graphic than higurashi kai (which really wasn't that bad). its kinda funny cause the more graphic things (lady impaled through the eye with a fence) are censored XD guess they were forced to after making higurashi lol. but it is pretty crazy with the ways people die, just not nearly as 'in your face' with torture and such
A friend of mine has been ordering up tons of anime on Blu Ray with series like Angel Beats, Baka to Test, and Highschool of the Dead clocking in at about $40 a pop. He was asking me about possible birthday gift ideas and the first series that popped into my head was The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, as I thought it was a cool series and would like to have it on blu ray. I decided to check first and glad I did cuz I woulda felt bad to ask for that lol.
But yeah, anyone know why the hell this one is SOOOOOOO expensive?
All but one of the shows here I've seen and quite enjoyed, I have yet to see "Baka to Test" yet though...
as for why it's expensive, hard to tell, I probably wouldn't buy them anyway, however they are all shows that they need to continue with...
edit: remembering that the first one actually ended iirc, so subtract that last statement from the first mentioned :D
I'm about to get old school on your ***, no one's mentioned:
Scryed
Scrapped Princess
Ranma 1/2 (still need box sets 5, 6 & 7)
Escaflowne
Planetes
Solty Rei
Coyote Ragtime Show
Space Battleship Yamato (Live action movie, pissed cause there's no
subtitles, most money I ever spent on a Blu-Ray)

don't watch the anime. The visual novel is better in every way.

i will agree with this, been reading it the last 4 days almost non stop on my free time XD though anime is still good to watch, just aggravating that they only give half the story
gantz was pretty good till like the last episode. as always manga is much much better, but until the last episode it follows manga storyline pretty closely.

i'd say a lot of the experience was lost in the transition to anime as well, not just losing the (notably worse) second half of the story.
the anime took out most of the music, which is a good chunk of the appeal in the first place. Umineko had a fantastic OST, and letting it go to waste is just a shame. couple that in with a lot of the impact being lost (especially, say, the ending of chapter 3) makes the anime just something to watch after you've already read everything.
I enjoy bleach as well, but if you're a fan of anime and you don't watch it, it's most likely because you don't enjoy it. So it's kind of useless to mention it.
However somebody earlier posted a video that had english dub, that needs to get out...

I watched the first episode of High School of the Dead a couple nights ago.
Seemed fun if you're into zombies. Though there's alot of fan service, upskirt shots. But that's not always bad.
Indeed, that's how the show goes.
I don't like Bleach because I'm just not into long running animes. Usually alot of filler and can't hold my interest too long. (I made it halfway through Bleach's second season before I quit.)
It was pretty good at first but I just got bored. I tend to favor short and sweet series like Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Black Lagoon, etc.

Also another series I can't remember the name was good was this one with 2 guys (brothers I think) who were kinda like bounty hunter/mercs with powers. The one brother was blonde and had powers involving electricity, the other brother had brown hair and his power was basically to mindfuck people. I remember them fighting with/against some people who used perfumes to fight, knives that they kept under their skin, weird stuff, it was forever ago I saw it though.
just finished both hellsing and hellsing ultimate and recently mushi-shi. I'm watching bit last exile but looking for some more along the hellsing / mushi line or maybe something more cerebral
