It's worth pointing out that the recent push to make homosexuality punishable by death in Uganda was (perhaps inadvertently) started by American evangelical Christian groups.
They claim that wasn't their intent. But when, over the course of many years, you repeatedly go over there and give fiery speeches to the Ugandian legislature about how homosexuals are evil Satanic forces intent on destroying families and society, and God says they should all be killed, I think you lose your right to be shocked when the government follows suit with a bill to kill them all.

Why am I not surprised? Religious extremists are going to be the downfall of humanity. That goes for any religion, I'm not pointing fingers at any one in particular.

So many unspeakable things have been done 'in the name of God/Allah' throughout history. Hell, just look at the holy crusades, the constant fighting between Israel and Palestine, and the Holocaust, just to name a few. I don't understand how you can justify killing another human being because they don't read the same book as you. I just don't.

There is no such thing as evil, so saying religion is the root of all evil is fundamentally wrong unless you agree with religion.

Without religion we wouldn't have Assassin's creed.
I think we can all agree that it's worth it.

It's the same as making a magazine with a list of 1000 blacks. Yeah... because it's hard to tell if someone is black just by looking at them. We'll need a list to sort those folks out. It's still genocide.

Bad news guys: humans are the root of all evil.
People do messed up stuff and want to do messed up stuff. They feel better when other people agree with them, or even make them out to be heroes for the messed up stuff they do; so they point at things that are generally considered "good" (like religion or science) and misinterpret what is there in order to justify their actions.
Often they even convince themselves that what they are doing is for the good--of course, it's probably not very hard since it seems to be human nature to always consider yourself right.
Edit: Sorry KFH, I didn't see what you said above until after I posted. I won't say anything else about this.

Or am I thinking of a different taru. "Coming out" is stupid. If anyone asked if I was gay I'd say "Yes", I didn't see any reason to sit down and make it some epic presentation of my sexual orientation. It's actually sort of funny you mention it, because since I've started dating my current boyfriend people have been finding out. I mean, I guess it's a dead giveaway when I kiss a dude in front of someone.
Glad to know a very obvious joke can upset so many people though.

And no, I didn't come out, I don't see the point in it tbh. I'm not going to make a big song and dance out of it and potentially get ostracised by certain people when it's not even their business.

It was more of a thing back when most gay people were terrified of anyone knowing, and had kept it a secret from their friends, family, and coworkers for sometimes nigh unto 30+ years.
Back when "in the closet" was coined as a term because you didn't "kiss a guy in front of" your friends. You literally hid in a closet and did it so nobody would find out.
At that point, admitting to it was a really big deal.
Now that it's no longer such a life-ending, potentially dangerous bombshell, and folks "come out" basically from Day 1, there isn't as much of a point.

People(Gays/bi/transgender/whatever) still treat it as such, is what pisses me off.
If they want equality they should stop thinking they're special :/

The only people I "came out" to were my parents, which went horribly anyway. So imagine if I didn't say a word and just planted one on my BF in front of them, or in some form of a social setting lol. Other than that if someone asks me I will either decline to answer or just say yes depending on how the end result might look. Not too hard to figure out how some people may react...although declining will kind of make the answer obvious at times.

Even if you don't realize it, we straight folks like to publicly celebrate our sexuality every chance we get. We don't just have in-your-face yearly festivals celebrating dudes throwing beads at chicks so they'll show us their boobs, we have an entire city who's entire existence is essentially a 365 day/year dedication to every depraved thing we can possibly imagine. (But! -- many of the laws saw -- only if you're straight.)
Our advertisements on television play it up at every opportunity, with big-breasted chicks selling beer, or shaving cream commercials featuring dudes spinning their Ferrari's into a crowd of adoring supermodels, or cheap spray-on cologne ads featuring geeks being chased down the street by rapacious Swedish nurses dressed in no hospital uniform I've ever had the personal privilege of seeing.
Gay folks have to put up with this 24 hours a day. The constant over-sexed messaging of straight people blaring our heterosexuality across every channel we can: television, radio, billboards, video games, internet forums, whatever. And they all just quietly tolerate it, despite having no interest. When was the last time you heard a gay guy *** about having to watch some dude kiss his fiance on a cheesy DeBeers commercial?
In exchange, some of them want to have a wild parade for themselves in San Francisco once a year. And people freak the *** out, saying they must think they're special.
They don't. They just want 1/365th of what the rest of us take for granted.

I've never fully understood why people hate gay's. Most cases they mainly hate male gays. This leads me to think it's the macho image that is being skewed that makes people annoyed. That is why men receive more of the ***than women do. Another possibility (more likely) is religion.... People are so reliant on religion they just don't think for themselves. Like I said earlier, people with low intelligence. There is no reason to hate someone for their sexual preference, people need to evolve already and realize it has almost 0 impact on other people's lives.

Hey how would you jolly, flaming fruits feel if America did some shit like this?
Uganda Newspaper publishes "gay list", calls for their hanging.
Quote: Earlier this month, Rolling Stone newspaper -- not affiliated with the U.S. magazine with the same name -- featured 100 pictures of Uganda's gays and lesbians. Next to the list was a yellow strip with the words "hang them."
