So, I've never understood why PUPs have such a bad reputation. Maybe I've just known some buff ones? But after the new hilariously awesome looking AF3 and then ...today, I ended in a pt in Abyssea - Attohwa with an old PUP friend.

I'm the 2nd place brown line (SAM/THF) spamming SATA Kashas with a +10% Kasha DMG Keitonotachi. My dmg was nothing to shake a stick at, and neither was the other DDs.

The purple line in 1st is his puppet doing Magic Mortar.

Sigh, never mind, just /drg with a wyvern earring would bring about a better dps in comparison to using a meh ws once a minute having to go through something as tedious as SATAing.

...Since when is Kasha a "meh" ws, especially with +10% DMG from Keitonotachi?

Kasha is inherently the weakest of the three major WSs that SAM uses. The +10% DMG brings it on par with the rest but even then, SATA is a very inefficient way to go on SAM unless your tanks require it.

Perhaps it's not meh, I wouldn't know, I'm not a sam, I always presumed gekko would be the weaponskill of choice. However if one thing is certain it's that extra haste will beat SATA unless you're unable to TP on a mob.
For maximum damage output I would assume that the fully upgraded OAT GK would be ideal along with a 5 hit build and /drg for added haste. If you're having to use SA or TA and lining up or getting behind the mob, that's just extra time you could be hitting and weaponskilling which in the case of the OAT GK and a 5-hit is almost all the time.

Good to know. I'm still working on my Keito trial and I obviously would've been using Gekko if it had the +10% DMG too, but I didn't realize SATA was that inefficient. I'll have to lvl my /drg and get a wyvern earring soon.

I might add abyssea is the worse way to compare jobs.

I once doing 35-90% of every mobs health by myself in a full allaince on blm... this was with no refresh of any kind.

Yukikaze has the lowest ATT Boost, actually.

You would parse better with just a basic GK, max overwhelm and spam gekko every 4-5 swings (assuming you have at least a 5-6hit)

Either way a pup + auto is nice total dmg, but if just the auto beat you all. im sorry :s

Like the other day I went in on rng barely 74. There were 2 other rngs 1 was like 80 the other one was 83 I think at the start. I went and got the racc/ratt atma and managed to do more with my shots and ws for more and more often

did you not hear of enhanced lights from pups? PUPS are far from being lol.

PUP can be a good DD but given the fact that you're probably working on pimping your SAM would to my mind suggest the flaw.

When you've finished Sea and got Rajas/Brutal, and also items such as Swift Belt/Byakko's Haidate will increase your DPS significantly, and also a change in subjob as /THF isn't all that great. /WAR is superior and as suggested /DRG is even more superior.

Yeah, it was sick. Between him and his automaton and the Light SC, he was doing over 5k per batch.
