So i resume : 2 years ago when Taou came out SE introduce : Templar mace !
Cool u can finally send the lol ROC staff to ***and switch to club...
This month SE introduce a new STAFF explodin the templar mace and give...shield bonus...

Thats must be some kind of humour, but its hard for me swallow...

I think, only think, that SE is trying to promote whm/mage soloing of some sort. I've known whms who never melee, except at low levels.. Not many whms now-a-days have /nin set for 'dd' and even have up to hexa-strike unlocked. It makes me sad :'(

But, The shield thing will be crappy for 90% of whms game, since in a party or endgame, you likely will have a staff on(trial staff if your high enough) and in solo.. well its debatable. Earth staff for spirit taker, or mace+mace, or mace+shield.

whm/mage using a club and shield on any serious solo is a joke... idk what SE is getting at here.

that being said, it would be nice if we get the enmity control spells :) but I doubt it'll happen

Idk. I like it, because I soloed ALOT as whm/sch at 75 with templar mace+holy shield(no genbu shield ;x). Notable things I solo'd were some harder Af3's, to Em mobs, to a few nms(I forget most of there names, or even what, so please don't ask..)

I think it'll be a mace with cure potency instead. Maybe, just maybe, one that matches the staffs 17%(or if they upgrade it to 85 cap, higher)


Edit #2: I'd also like to point out that no matter -how- much cure potency they add, it always caps at 50%. So once you reach 50%, then you can slowly sway out peices for more other stats like mp, mnd or -enm. If they add a +cure % shield or mace, then we can forsee using less staff again and more mace+shield, hence making this update 'ok'

You gotta block a damn attack to benefit from the trait at all.

Reduces damage taken when blocking an attack with a shield.

PDT club/Genbu shield + full shield skill gear on WHM idle!

I laughed at this too, pictured SE "And whm gets def +10 when using a shield!" wat? and yeah whms with no way to defend themselves always makes me /groan as well but I stick with primate/kink 95% of the time anyways for melee. If you want to solo a light chain for fun yeah clubs, but unless you have kclub or relic/mythic you're never going to beat that dps A nice MND+5 or higher grip would be perfect, they could even make it whm exclusive if enfeeble sets have too delicate a balance in SE's eyes

this is an insult to melee whms everywhere, and whm soloists... there are magian clubs that approach the relic in terms of damage, and wonderful OAT/OA3 clubs for offhand. for melee whm club is 100% the way to go; using a staff for damage is a joke.

seriously? unless they come out with a club that's at least pdt-10%, there will be NO benefit to using a shield over a terra's. and there certainly isn't a benefit to it right now... owleyes + genbu's is an option I guess.

I acually want to say, I agree 100% on this. So many people underestimate whm dd, When they can acually do a good bit of damage while still healing. K.club, hell no, not even k.club offhand, a 75 meripho bird parties, a whm with mystic boon could dd and heal at once, and keep full mp without any issues. I melee in parties from time to time to use it for boredom supression, as well as small amounts of mp back.(no mystic boon since I'm only 60 on this new character ;x)

I reccomend every whm to get hexa strike and up, cap your club even, and you can enjoy fighting with everyone else, while also healing.

PS: I do NOT reccomend meleeing when there are alot of AoE things you should be avoiding. I think it should be obvious, but someones going to laugh about it, or try and say 'oh not on this nm'
