Now if you'd gorram pay attention, I'll put it together for you.
Most champs in LoL have the Max->Max->Max progression you cited even for Kayle.
Except at level 5, Kayle benefits more from a second point in W than a second point in E while still in solo laning phase, even if you're still maxing W last. Whether it heals you better or saves you mana by healing better isn't what makes the choice viable, but because the second point in E doesn't really matter when trading.
Ten damage per hit, really? If that makes the difference in a kill, you're doing it much more wrong than taking the second point in W instead.
That's a choice you can make. I like my heal efficiency, even if I never use it.
Do you see though? The Max->Max->Max mentality follows their designs that focus on only one skill having all the damage and the others are taken just for kit completion. Level 5 Kayle is seriously the deepest 'tradeoff' situation I can find and it's still largely irrelevant.
In that way, LoL is designed for morons. That's much of its appeal actually, versus interesting concepts like last-hitting your own minions or even turret to deny gold to the other team.
So now a champ that is focused on rushing a skill to max rank? You don't see how that's just making it worse?

AP Taric
Let me rephrase that... AP mid taric to counter a niche mid. Chalice helps a lot on AP taric, when playing him mid... his early game mana costs are horrendous, and he needs to spam abilities to farm like stun and shatter to even get in on farm or harass at times. He will more than likely have to heal too. Your ult is up literally every minute, which when it's up you might as well use it. Taric just doesn't really fit in the meta as ap, or even top really, he's best suited as a support. He doesn't need a lot of farm to do what he does as support. Ward, his ult, and shatter... and stun... heal as needed... It was a niche pick that I was just dicking around in draft.
There is no reason to nit-pick something I did at that time to counter Diana mid when a hecarim *** up. I mean... really...
max Q or E first on kayle, probably better Q first to help with ganks when the jungler comes and for that extra % damage.
chalice on taric, probably not a bad choice as an early item cuz high mana cost spells and extra mr will help against an ap mid because you know...he is melee and ap mids generally poke frequently to push one or the other out for lane control.
