Anyone Else Having A Good Time Downloading The Update?

Yesterday was cruising at 5-20kbps. It picked up to about 50kbps after half the day was over. Get about 70% done and find out that they released more ***to update today >.>, went from 70% done to 40% done, now I'm at 60%, but speed is about 100kbps now. It keeps fluctuating though, so looking at 4-10 hours left >.>

so there was another update..orrrr?

Did they impliment the new battle system yet or is that what this update is for?

Yea if you check the patch files folder there will be a new file. I was torrenting the current file instead of using their downloader (Torrent link in the actual folder, just using my torrent client instead of theirs). Basically I stopped my torrent, changed the file name to the new one SE's updater gave. Opened the new torrent file and I was about 70% done, after doing a "Check" my current progress was about 50% done and it resumed from there. Currently 62% done

yea, but torrents supposed to be faster than your reg net. like now i'm doing a regular download on a music album, going at 80kbps. If i were to torrent this same album (which I would if I could find it in 320kbps), can get up to 1 mb/sec if enough seeders

need to get a highher speed package brosef.
on that note I need to get on my ISPz *** for my < streaming quality right now.
back to staggering my episodes by letting the videos completely load, and loading another video while i watch the one i first loaded.
feels like i am back at my dads with his 756k connection -_-

I'm getting a POL-1160 error when i try to log in.... is that the same problem you guys are having?

Can't wait for this thing to finish so I can find out if I can actually even play the game or not.

Idc about graphics atm, just want it to be playable, so absolute minimum settings is fine. Just don't want to have low fps while I'm already gimping the graphics

I'm going from 0 to 600 bps. Yes bps, not kbps. Gonna take a week to download at this pace.

I'm confused...there was a update of some kind...for ffxi? yet no notice of it?

22 hours later and it's at 80.3% ._.

It's so....slow. Hopefully when I get home from work tonight it will be done! I have this fear that when I get to the end, I'm going to get some awful Error message!

Do any of you use Windows 7? If so, did you get a crap ton of error windows right when you began to download? About 6 popped up back to back, but then it began to download and has not happened since. I'm hoping its okay...

This has helped me out a few times with download speeds.

Especially if you are lacking remote connections

UK here and i used to download torrents at 8mb on an 8mb package at my old house.

yet some ffxi updates took me 15 hours to download.

so i see this ffxiv problem as tipical SE.

i mean like wtf come on SE peeps ^^..15 hrs on an 8mb capable line?...any one think i was downloading the universe!!!

i know i can only download as fast as there servers can send it mean but 15 hrs is proabaly 59kbps lol..hello its 2010 speed yow ***up :)

I would love to be able to just log in, i keep getting they ffxivboot.exe has encountered a problem and will be shut down. Have they figured out what was causing that or am i just SOL?

Alot of ppl are talkin bout getting remote connections.... idk wth is up but I haven't seen one yet, just locals, anyone else gettin that?

I've been sitting at 99.9% for about 30 mins now with 0kbs download and over 100kbs upload. It's really pisses me off. Sitting on 7 locals and 0 remotes. I've had 0 remotes the whole download but my friend had over 10. Oh, he also finished his like 8 hours ago. orz

mine got to 78%, and just decided to crash :/ /em starts over

So I started the download last night and just let it go and it fluctuated from 0-100kb/s but averaged around 35 so I woke up this morning and saw it was only at 52% after 21hrs... Decided to kill it restart to see if i could get a better rate only to find out that they updated the file last night so if your doing the download you might need to update it even after your finished. The new file reads 2010.7.12.... I have to say that this download makes XI's update looks like fire wire downloads. I hope to god that its not like this when it comes out because if it does it will fail.... nobody will want to have to do a download for 20+hrs just to play a game. I'm also under the impression that its a limited time beta test(like 48 hours on scheduled days) if that's the case I probably won't even be done with the download by then... this is so brutal...
