So the eldest learned how to whittle today, in kindergarden.
She turns three on sunday.

We did that stuff too, it was fun lol

And at the cabin in the summer my parents let me chop wood with a big sharp axe on my own, use a bow and arrow, use knives etc

Isn't that normal for a kid? <_<

But seriously my office was empty around christmas/new years with people chaining vacation days or sick days from Christmas Eve to a few days after New Year's Day

I'm the weirdo who likes taking random days off with my vacation days

I plan on doing like a week at some point, but I honestly can't think of the last time I had a straight week off since I've begun working (Besides when I've switched jobs and used the time off between jobs to move or to prep getting ready for working at a new place, but that ***is too stressful to call a vacation)

My NC/FL vacation just this past week+ was the first major vacation I've had since I went to Key West two years ago, and the one two years ago was my first "major" vacation ever at the age of 32.

seemed to ***on people who wanted to take sick time or vacation time

we've been over this before but...

the only thing that chafes my *** as a boss is "vacation day maximizers" you know the guy that wants to use one or two vacation/personal/sick days around every holidays to turn every three day weekend into a four day weekend... >.>

or this dec 25 and 26 are holidays so they will try to do dec 27, 28, 29 and then dec 22 and january 2 to make it twelve days off in a row... and the three days before thanksgiving with one before and one after for eleven days off in a row and then for the third week...he'll try to take off the 3rd of july...and call off sick on the fifth /break pencil

but he will be out of sick days by april because he turned st patricks day into a week long vacation with them to stay home to watch the college basketball tournement... or whatever...

I get why people do that, but I specifically don't do that most of the time just because...what the *** am I going to do for a week in December. Seriously. There's nowhere to go, there's gonna be snow and cold, whatever.

I might take a single extra day the week of Thanksgiving, but that's because it can line up so that it's also my anniversary on/around the day (11/21).

Let people piss off admin trying to optimize the big holidays.

I'll save mine for random 3-4 day weekends in July and August on the boat!

Our supervisors largely do not wish to know what's wrong with you. The less they know the less than have to be responsible for/etc. Especially if you qualify for FMLA or similar chronic condition absences. All they want to know is "FMLA day? Okay. See you tomorrow."

It's pretty chill in that regard, and I like it that way.

I hated the first place I worked at as a web developer, they paid ***and seemed to ***on people who wanted to take sick time or vacation time (but if they didn't use either they wouldn't roll over, so it's either you get bitched at for taking time off or let it go to waste)

Yeah. Places like that can take a big D right in the E.

Yes, the E.

It's a little weird too because it seemed that it was basically a blanket policy that effected all employees. I'm more used to it depending on your manager or supervisor.

Like my current manager definitely has the attitude of "It's your time, use it when you'd like" which I definitely appreciate, but coworkers have told me stories of how their previous managers at the same place will say how their sickness doesn't sound bad enough to miss work or whatever, which I would not appreciate

Do sick or vacation days roll over to the next year for you or no?

Both (with a cap on vacation of 40, iirc.)

Sounds like a similar setup to where I work, I'm glad not every employer is like some of the ones I've previously worked for

Edit: Though technically, mental health is still health and if you're sick and tired of work and take a day off so you don't strangle someone, you're actually helping two people live better lives.
Greatest part of this new job. Since they give us 30 days of paid vacation a year they have actually been pushing us to use them for mental health.

...

I really shouldn't brag about this job. >.>;

My office doesn't really care. Use your days. They're yours. But don't cry if you use them all up by May and the only way you're getting off after that until January is without pay with a dire illness.

Also... is it worth getting ARMA 3?

... It's so tempting but I just... don't...know...

It's a fun game depending on the mods you use, who you play with, etc.

The zombie mod and server that I'm assuming Meshi is still on was pretty fun
