Speaking of, where the hell is Misa? I haven't even been on D3 or WoW so I don't know if the cat is just avoiding us or is totally MIA.
Meshi too!

Chili was a success.
Weekend being over is a serious, serious bummer.
First full work week in like a month and I don't like it.
Coffee binge happening in...
now.

I'm making hamburger stew tomorrow.
Need to make deer chili again.

I think I just never had good chili as a kid. So, regular chili doesn't give me that nostalgia or comfort food feeling it gives others.
Now I want vegetable beef stew.

Oh there's more fun to it though.
- Get certified letter about township taking my seller to court for not having paid for it. Figure "okay, they have to tell me because I'm the owner, nothing here says I need to show up with a lawyer or that I owe anything."
- Get letter after the hearing stating how terrible of a person I am for not showing up to the hearing and that I owe the township $3,600. They're also pretty dickish in the legal document basically saying "Since Mr. (me) did not appear and did not send a representative he's a big bag of ***and we find that he has to pay this."
- Call a lawyer, who is a coworker's brother. Good guy. Turns out he can't represent me though because while he doesn't represent the township, his firm does. He does, however, put me in touch with the lawyer handling the case for the township.
- I speak with her. She (again, the township's legal counsel) says she can't speak as to who exactly should be paying this money, but she is 100% positive that it isn't me and refers me to a lawyer who can help.
- I call that lawyer who says "I will happily represent you, but call your closing company because they should have picked up on this if it was public at the time. Tell them that if it's not taken care of you'll file a claim against their insurance and if they don't do anything, call me, because I win that case 11 times out of 10."
- I call my closing company, guy asks me to e-mail him details, so I do.
- Get an e-mail back the next day saying it's been taken care of and was paid that morning. Not sure if my closing company paid it because they missed it and didn't want an insurance claim filed, or if they strongarmed *** Barry into paying it. Honestly I don't care as long as it wasn't me.
I think the biggest gripe I came away with was the judge basically deciding that since I didn't spend time and money to show up to a hearing I had no logical reason to show up at -- even according to the other party's legal counsel -- I was the guy who got the bill.
he did not get my vote at reelection time.
My takeaway, however, was that from now on if my name is in a legal document, I'm showing up to stick it to the man.

Have I told the story about how prior to my purchasing the house (prior to even my seller purchasing the house, actually) the township forced my neighborhood to go onto the public grid and two owners later tried to make me pay for it because the prior two stiffed them?
you have now!
are a huge pain in the ***. I live in like... a lower tier suburb-ish kind of neighborhood. I don't have any land to speak of. I'd stay on public sewer even if I was rich / crazy enough to build the well.

Not much happening on my end. tired. the body and soul are ready for a lazy weekend. Switching between skyrim and minecraft still. s'ok. I found out I was apparently playing Divinity: OS on hard mode accidentally. I didn't realize you could use the Bloodstones directly to unlock portals, I thought they had to be specific main-quest-obtained Bloodstones, so I'm pushing pretty far into the game (just killed Leandra's Death Knights) before I'm like "How the *** do I open the rest of these rooms?"
So I look it up.
"Oh."
*uses all the eight bloodstones I was hoarding in case I had to heal any more NPCs.*
*The End of Time almost entirely unlocks*
"Huh. Look at that. All kinds of ***I could have used."
In the meantime I've managed to turn into dealers of death without half the ***available to me. Guess next playthrough will be on bumped-up difficulty for the achieves!

yeah the more time that goes on the more the 28k for a private well and pump seems like it would be worth it.

Honestly, I'm ok being on public where I am. I grew up with septic tanks and unless I had it similarly installed new myself and made sure I knew everything about it, I don't want one.
I have visions of my uncle and step dad in the back yard shoveling for like four days out at my grandma's.
I'm really only annoyed that they (MA) had trucks on-site before they ever mentioned it was actually broken. If I had known that I would have gone to the gym and showered and just gone to work.

Man, where is Nik? Or anyone else for that matter!
yeah it's not nearly as much of a DPF with just you & I. That SOB niko probably got sent on an emergency repair trip to armpit, mexico, or butthole, italy where their evil machinery broke over the holidays and they didn't bother to try to repair it until now.
:(

So I woke up yesterday morning, went to take a shower.
Faucet doesn't provide water.
Check the rest of the taps in the house. They've all NOPED out.
Call the municipal authority. No emergencies or outages noted in my area.
Well ***. Frozen pipes. That's a first, as it's never happened in colder weather, but it is still cold as ***so it's not outside the realm of possibility.
Call off work, get bundled up to spend some time in my garage.
I pull all the pipe insulation off, check all the pipe that's on the exterior wall (the only pipe in the house that isn't inside insulated wall). No obviously drips. No cracks or breaks that I can see nor feel.
Okay, that's a positive. At least none of the pipes have burst.
Spend a good ~90 minutes with a blow dryer warming the pipe from one end to the other.
...doesn't help. Still no water.
*** me. I don't want to pay a plumber right now.
So I go upstairs to take a break and decide my next course of action. Happen to look out the window...
...and there are three municipal authority vehicles and a backhoe outside my house.
I throw my coat on, walk outside and approach the nearest vehicle to me. As I do so, my neighbor across the street approaches too.
"You having problems too?" I ask.
"Yeah but the MA phone line says that there are no outages."
"I think they're wrong," I say as we approach the nearest truck.
Get to the window *tap tap tap* "Hey! What's goin' down?"
"We're trying to find a break in the area. You guys having outages?"
"Yeah."
So he calls the people at the office and they finally get around to changing the message to let an entire neighborhood know that, yeah, you can stop shining the dollar-sign Bat signal for plumbers.
I finally get a shower and, my day now half over and PTO day burned, went to the store and got stuff to make chili because god dammit it's cold and I want hot soup.
TL;DR I'm eating chili and cornbread tonight and I still love my state but despise my state and local authorities.

2019... dear God you're a planner.
nah, got suckered into a chaperone deal. It's a long sorted tale in which I came out the putz, so I shall not delve into too much detail...
That's still a 10 hour drive, but can plan something maybe.
bah, 10 hours is waaaaaaaaaay too far for a beer with me. I thought everything on the east coast was fairly close together for some stupid reason. virginia must be bigger than it looks. meh. I tried.
