Ninja edit: For those who never studied US History in school, this is none other than Joseph McCarthy. He was a senator in the 50s which during the early phases of the cold war took the "Red Scare" to new extremes. He abused his power to cause mass paranoia and would incriminate anyone he (unjustly) believed was involved (no matter how big or small) with communism. Many innocents were wrongly convicted of being associated with the USSR or spreading communist influences.
