I Remember When......

Motivation for creating this thread is to be a spinoff of the when i started playing thread.

Basically the idea is to actually make a fun post based off my mispost^^

Post your good memories, I would think CoP or before qualifies best. But if you think it qualifies then post it!

I remember back when you were ridiculed if you didn't know how to work together as melee to form a Skillchain, or more importantly.. as a Blm to Magic Burst that Skillchain.

I remember back when Bibiki Bay was the High Level EXP spot of Choice.

I Remember back when your 'first impression' reputation was based on you Nation Rank.

I remember back when I Created a new character, I felt overwhelmed, so I spent hours in town talk to every single NPC just so I can't get comfortable with my bearings.

I remember back when level cap was not the end all be all, when we would form groups at mid levels to do missions or HNM's.

I remember when Redmage was considered second only to Beastmaster as a Solo Job.

I remember when I cared about nostalgia threads.

I remember when FFXI was fun.

Typically the only time time I see Magic Bursts is from Blm's that take initiative and Notice a Bluemage or a Samurai is Self Skillchaining.

Typically Skillchains are Self made and Magic Bursts are luck based or random.

Sometimes these are actually planned.. but it's rare.

Basically most people don't 'organize' skillchains anymore.. its all about let off WS every time it hits 100%. Only people who really actually do SC's are those who can Self chain.

In regards to BLM's bursting... again they don't get ridiculed cuz people dont even expect them to do them. Typically they are done by old school Blm's or on accident.

O ***I think you're right. It's been at least 5 years since I've seen the show. I must be in need of a refresher... either way, that always stuck with me, whether he was being a hypocrite or not, as being fantastically true. I really shouldn't bash on people being fond of thier memories as much as I do, or at the very least, not show up to a nostalgic meeting & mock it's participants.

I like Nostalgia too!

I remember the POL Intro Movie.
I remember Twinkling Treant (Greatest Holiday event ever!)
I remember (and miss terribly) Mob trains.
I remember the Airship.
I remember EVERYONE in Seers gear.
I remember the heartbreak from losing the lot for the magicked skull time and time again.
I remember getting aggro ALL THE TIME!!
I remember Vanadiel Tribune.

I still love this game though!

The nostalgia and pride of working through CoP with my friends floods over me every single time I step into Al'Taieu and the music starts playing. :)

Yeh, I get you, probably could sense the indecision in my post as wasn't sure about the tone of it, think I might have gone with "I was being ironic" :)

Watching them from the start again is great, just be sure to stop one short of the last episode, as the penultimate is a great place to end.

I remember, first time I got a PL in a party. Amazing.

and first HQ item I ever bought, before I even got to Jeuno. Verve Earring. Complete junk. Still have it, too sentimental to bin in.

That's the thing I miss the most. Having close friends and working together to complete lvl capped missions in CoP or fighting through the hell of Caedarva Mire and finishing ToAU. Those are the things I miss the most.

None of this stuff requiring temp items and staggers and proc to kill an NM. Fighting things that would hit a PLD or NIN hard but not so hard that your healer and support jobs couldn't handle.

I miss playing with a RDM and a BRD for refresh along side a back-up tank to trade roles.
