Been considering doing some inside Abyssea testing without any cruor or atma buffs. Should give a pretty good idea of how tough new content mobs might be and allow for some outside Abyssea set testing. Haven't decided which NM I'll do this on yet, but most likely a Heroes NM...Tablilla perhaps.

isnt this basically the same kind of argument as comparing ygk against RR @75? >.>

obvious conclusion is:

bandwagon wins.

Honestly, while everyone wants to say that Ukko's > Fudo a couple things to consider are that:

A. Inside abyssea Ukko's will win due to crits. Sorry, but having a high of 8800 (not a +dmg taken mob) after 1 day of using Ukko's and having never seen Fudo break 6k after a SAM friend of mine has had it for 2-3 months (not counting mobs that take stupid amounts of damage), I highly doubt its possible to make Fudo's better.

B. Outside abyssea neither is a clear winner because it depends on the gear used by the WAR. If a WAR caps fDEX while maintaining high att/str/DA, then Ukko's will probably be better on average outside abyssea. If the SAM has fantastic gear, he could probably push fudo's over Ukko's outside abyssea.

SAM can get a shitton of STR and ATK without having to worry much about accuracy, lol.

edit: not sure if Unkai back > atheling
edit2: usukane legs would be better, but I'm too lazy to use FFXIcalc.

Atheling should beat it.

Unkai uncapped attack, Fortis capped attack.

Congrats on not having to worry about accuracy, unfortunately for SAM thats a benefit WAR has as well.

Outside abyssea:

Inside abyssea:

Neither set for war or sam focus's accuracy at all. As stated before, outside abyssea is all about how much Ukko's crits; a high crit rate will annihilate fudo overall.

On a similar topic, in deciding which to build i would take into consideration the AM on each. With the high levels of DA that a properly geard WAR now has while easily capping haste, your overall DPS will show a pretty nice increase. Sam closes the gap in their ability to spam the living *** out of the WS.

Not exactly. WS frequency isn't complete gain. Animation delay detracts from the damage a bit.

I was thinking something like this for an inside set when Blood Rage isn't up.

Obviously Hecatomb/+1 leggings when Blood Rage is up...
outside abyssea, ravager's +2 hands/+2 feet (always), and warwolf belt.

Exactly, which is why a 6hit fudo sam under marches does better than a 5hit fudo sam with marches. W/O marches the playing field is leveled a bit and will either fall on either setup or favor 5hit.

Stupid question, now what if you DAT swap it to a short animation? Is the animation delay server side or client side?

Server side so DAT swapping won't do anything.

Hang in there man, it's been a rough trip and taken too long for me due to RL atm but Glavoid is almost done. 39/50 Shells and 4.5 pops between me and the LS atm. hopefully all it will take is 6. I can't wait.

Kinda psyched, my playtimes limited the amount of time I could have spent on Trial NMs the last month.

BTW what the *** is up with the skeleton. He hasn't popped in like 7 hours and it's a 14 minute lottery pop? Jesus ***man, does my luck just suck?

Caladbolg is going to be my next project though it seems less difficult then Ukon will ever be. I'm a masochist though so maybe I should make a Twashtar next! (j/k to my Empy crew)

I'm just hoping that my ls will be at least a little bit more motivated to farm Glavoids with the addition of seals/+2 item drops in vision zones. 2/50 25/50 75/75 omg, wtf lol

I personally find my ukko's to do higher damage than my fudos in outside events (Einherjar and Salvage). I'm including my current gear sets for referance. Masamune is only 85 so my observations are just ment to be referance points, not conclusive proof.
Damage numbers are the averages of 5 parses per job I can find from outside events.

My current outside of abyssea set for ukko's:

ukon(90)/sword starp/ /AF3 orb
AF3+2/Kubira Beads/brutal/pixie
zahaks/af3+2/pyrosoul/rajas
Vigilance+1/warwolf/byakko's/af3+2
outside buffs:red curry bun and dex from AF3brd marchs.

and tend to average 2.6k with spike damages of 4-4.8k. I assume standard mobs to have under 100 agi(based on relative strength to greater colibri (117 to cap dDex)) and thus this set puts me at 150ish(*** elvaan's low base dex) right around fDex cap.

Sam fudo build:

masa(85)/sword strap/ /thew bomblet (Red curry bun)
twilight/Ire torque +1/brutal/Vulcan's
byrnie+1/heafoc/pyrosoul/rajas
atheling/snow belt/usu legs/AF3+2
outside buffs: red curry bun

average sits at just over 2.1k with spikes of 3.4-3.8k. Lacking 90 masa, Beir belt+1 and tp bonus moonshade.

Ukko's has 2 outliers at 5.3 and 6.1(blood rage mightystrikes maybe?). Fudo has 1 at 4.5.

Hope this is at all helpful, bored during update><.

After collecting 50 moth scales, you'll prlly be tryin to sell the stones towards the end. We were selling atheling mantles for like 200k a pop when we did orthrus claws.
