I don't think it's particularly heavy, I think it's some weirdo magic that prevents people who aren't worthy from picking it up or something
So that is why it wiggled a bit when Cap tried. Interdesting.
It's more only those who are worthy can wield it. It is connected to Thor, but you can have your "Worthy"-ness be dispelled, like in the first Thor Movie, where Thor cannot use it, and in the Comics:
