Stick Fight! Wands V Staves

Now that the Ambuscade Pulse weapons have been out a little while, I'm curious if anyone has done any testing with Maxentius. Stat wise, when coupled with Ammurapi Shield and maybe even with Culminus, this could be a better combination vs Staff/Enki in terms of blowing things up. For outright MACC, it seems a good staff and Khonsu might be equivalent for some jobs, but for Nukes, Maxi/Ammu seems to have the salt. The MB bonus and where it fits into the equation is the real linchpin, IMHO, as if it's calculated at the end like Weather and doesn't contribute to the job trait MB bonus, it could unseat Akademos for SCH with the combined 78MACC and 59 MAB for bursting and be a better option vs Augment hell on Grio for BLM/RDM/GEO.

There are some tests in the RDM thread which seem to hint at Maxentius being quite awesome for RDM.

There are some other similar tests in the GEO and SCH threads, granted the gap is not as large for the latter given the better/larger options available, in general.

Go and read the post I link and please follow the further discussion in the following posts to get yourself a better idea. But in general yes, Maxentius is pretty nice. Better than an average Grioavolr, worse than stuff like Perf Grio/Raetic+1.
MaxentiusMH/KajaRodOH seems to be the absolute BiS in terms of pure damage output. Of course that requires you going with a sub that gives you dualwield.
