why DNC/SAM?
Samurai is a very common sub for dancer. It's not only used in exp, but it's the only sub that makes DNC useful in endgame. With the proper merits, dnc effectively gets two meditates. One for 75 tp every 3 minutes (No foot rise job ability combined with reverse flourish merits), and the real "Meditate" job ability for 60 TP every 3 minutes. Dnc isn't supposed to hit anything on things end-game as they feed tp, so they engage and face backwards, and use debuffs (steps). Every time a DNC uses a step to debuff the mobs evasion, defense, or magic defense, they spend 10 tp and gain 2 finishing moves. With 5 finishing moves Dnc can recover 75 TP meaning the 30 tp they spend has a 250% recovery rate. It's smartest to do this every time you have 4 finishing moves though, as you gain 305% more TP per TP spent since you use 20 tp to gain back 61. Effectively, DNC will be able to keep enough TP with /sam to toss out the occasional dance equal to that of a cure potency+ cure 5 while continuously debuffing the HNM/god, etc. They do all of this (keep high tp) without hitting the target a single time, meaning feeding 0 tp. Steps are not considered a hit and do not award TP to the target.
Edit: Btw you could probably use a earth/terra staff while doing this. You won't be hitting the mob at all, and since you are using a two-handed weapon, you can effectively use seigan with third eye and will also have -20% damage taken in case you manage to take aggro with heals. The only problem is, steps are based off your actual melee accuracy... I've never tried it with a staff equipped, but with the relic boots and AF hands, you may still be able to land steps with the skilless staff weapon assuming you are wearing a ton of accuracy gear.
Should also note that store tp II (sam trait, level 30) gives you +15% store tp... So joyeuse gains 6.9 tp per swing instead of 6... This difference may seem small but it's very noticeable in the long run for DNC where every single TP counts. And yes, DNC has a D in sword, but IDK how many of you actually have the job up high enough to notice, but it's a highly accurate job. I went 8 battles w/o missing once on imps at level 70 with joyeuse. It has accuracy bonus lvl 2, and it has access to a LOT of accuracy gear, even with a D skill, you will seldom miss if you're geared properly.
