Beckoner's Doublet+1 Vs. Everything Else

So, while we continue to try and figure out how to pop Plouton for the 119 Body unlock (at the time of this post), I started thinking about the Beckoner's Doublet and how it will fit into various uses and situations. Obviously we have several body armors now and it's also evident that our Helios augments weren't for nothing.
What are some thoughts on how this body will be used (if at all)? Clearly someone who hasn't spent gil augmenting their Helios Jacket with BP DMG and Pet MAB will have use for it, but by comparison to max stats on the Jacket, I'm curious how this will play out.

Useful for the 14 summoning skill, that's about it.

For NQ, I still use Anhur Robe for Summoning Magic.

Favor build? It has a nice chunk of -Perp and +skill.

I guess helios jacket with the full +7 BP dmg and MAB augments is better for Flaming crush, and magic pacts in general. So this body would only be good for regular physical pacts in my opinion like P claws, Spinning dive, rush..

Convoker's Blood Pact +12 would beat Beckoner's +11 though?

Correct, Mr. Zubis. :p
Some may decide that the summoning skill triumphs over the blood pact damage +1, but that will be their decision. Accuracy is generally quite easy to obtain for avatars with the food available, or through other gear options not costing you blood pact damage.
This is especially true if you have Nirvana, as that provides enough accuracy for most content in the game with Akamochi. Shiromochi can easily be used instead to help mitigate that if you don't have Nirvana or are fighting something extremely evasive.

thats what i was assuming, the skill and -1 bp dmg for accuracy, and yeah i have Nirvana so it might not even matter?
By Asura.Shiraiyuki 2015-04-03 02:05:25
Even without Nirvana I personally still choose Convoker's over Beckoner's for the Blood Pact Damage.
Most content isn't that evasive truth be told and as Crevox also mentioned, there's food to compensate for the lack of accuracy.
And when we start falling short on that we still have our Magical and Breath type pacts for damage dealing.

I can add it as an alternative to augmented Hagondes+1 for Perp builds, it's actually better for Favour idle builds.
If only it had 12% BP damage it would have replaced Convoker's (which is an inferior option to augmented Helios maybe, but still very viable)
The additional SMN skill on it (which means +acc/macc for our avatars) doesn't compensate for the 1% less damage, imho.
It could be a viable body for debuff Wards, if you don't have a Pet: Macc Hagondes or Helios bodies.
Accuracy-wise I agree with what Crevox and Shirai said, but keep in mind that there is no viable Pet Macc Food (whereas we have plenty of options for pet acc)

Yeah, that's why I wrote "viable food" instead than just "food" :P
Whatever amounts of Macc it gives, it's quite clear it's not compareable to the amounts of physical acc we get from the other food (in comparison).
So, in light of this, I find forms of macc on gear to be more useful than physical acc.
Still, if we wanna see it this way, there are better options than Beckoner's+1 for pure macc, but they all involve random augments, so if someone doesn't want to be bothered with all that, Beckoner's +1 could be a viable option I guess?
By Asura.Shiraiyuki 2015-04-03 03:01:26
It will be, for those that don't want to play casino with the Helios/Telchine set. :)
Personally I kitted my Telchine set with MACC just to give it a bit more utility than just being a Siphon set.
Didn't want to make a third Helios set for that even though the legs with the right augments will push everything else into the ground.
My bags scream enough as it is when I gear my smn.

I feel your pain mate, I completely feel your pain.
I feel it so much I almost wish they made these sets RARE, that would force us to draw lines and make decisions, instead of " hey, we can get everything we want, let's get 10 differently augmented version of each piece!" lol

Has anyone made any Beckoner's pieces yet? I'm afraid I'll eventually be 5/5 119 due to severe OCD. I'm at 2/5 though on 119 (Legs and Feet).

I used my Defiant Sweat on Ebers Cap+1 so I'll have to farm up another one for Beckoner's.

Have you guys cleared Perfidien yet? You'll get the unlock for 119 legs if you beat him (whether you have the ROE unlocked for him or not). You just won't get a Tartarian Chain without the ROE.

Really? We've been taking 2 Nirvana SMN's (Theo and I) for each zone.

Yea the one time I did it I did really good damage (aside from when the BP delay thing was all screwed up), even heavenly strike was kick *** and I used Keraunos for that.

Yeah, the utility for SMN in Vagary is high - especially a Nirvana SMN. That sucks you aren't getting that opportunity.
The only thing SMN have to be careful of now is the Slime NM in Brash Gate. Since you can't do more than 3k damage on them (to stop the splitting process) you either have to let the BLM's T1-T2 them or you team up with another SMN to ensure a one-shot* (like what Theo and I have been doing). But since we're not getting babies at all anymore, we just leave that NM in particular to the BLM's
*One-shot on the babies

Yeah unfortunately the LS only wants specific jobs, and if I wanna go as SMN i would have to wait it out and fill a vacant spot

Meh, just made the Beckoner's Doublet+1. I just figured why not? I've given up fighting against my own OCD.

As posted on GW last saturday:
5/5, just because I am a completionist.
Have a second set of items ready for my whm set but I need to farm a few things for that before I can binge that.

It's kind of hard to tell but it looks like you also got the Incarnation Sash? xD
By Asura.Shiraiyuki 2015-04-07 09:21:13
Not yet, it's the cimmerian sash.
Popping and killing Plouton is a triviality now though, so I'll have it shortly.

It really is. We've shifted our looting system and now do /seacom 1 item for our lowman runs. This has made getting items somewhat easier. Few LS mates still waiting to see the Tartarus Platemail drop, though.
