Hey guys,

just recently, I have purchased a GTX 670 to upgrade my video card, and for some reason ffxi crashes everytime i turn it on.

Did some research, and found out that this is an issue that is widely spread out in ffxiv as well.

All my other games are running flawlessly except for FFXI. Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up. Hopefully, Nvidia will address this issue sooner or later.

See ya

Thanks for the heads up. I'm currently running a GTX 580 SLI 2-way (Fermi architecture) and was thinking of upgrading my card to the Kepler series but I was worried that FFXI would run bad with them as it initially did with Fermi hardware.

I mean it was horrendous. Like 2FPS, took them almost 4-5 months but they finally decided to get a driver to fix it. Now I'm 29.4 FPS anywhere

If you're running SLI, make sure to disable SLI bridging in your Nvidia Control Panel for FFXI. The game was not designed to run SLI at all and actually runs worse with it enabled then disabled. Just rememeber to re-enable SLI when you're gonna play a different game.

That may fix any crashing too. Worth a shot.

See if that fixes anything. If not then I'd suggest posting on the official Nvidia forums and hope they take your complaints into consideration

I had the issue with XIV when I upgraded to my 670, can't say for XI as I haven't tried to play it in forever.

I was able to fix the problem with XIV by disabling Depth of Field. Everything else is still at max (aside from AA... don't need more than 8x).

So yeah, far as I can tell it's an issue with the Depth of Field.

NVidia's always good with driver support. The 600 series is still new, so they're probably still ironing things like this out. I'm sure it'll all be fixed eventually.

There is a thread in the Official forum, and a solution was found and I'm having positive results from it.

If your game crashes while using NVIDIA GTX 670, 680, 690

try turning off the shadows and the weather.

crash was usually triggered by a certain animation, and it is currently working for me so... yeah

I used to get told that all the time ^ turn off weather & effects. I had weather, shadows, footfall, ws, battle dmg, EVERYTHING off... I would still get FFXI has stopped responding errored out/game crash all the time. In La Theine Plateau it'd happen.. in all the snow zones it'd happen.. in all Abyssea zones it'd happen. Go nVidia!!! Everybody told me to get a pc with nVidia.. PFF!!

I got told later I should of reinstalled XI.. but I just moved to XBOX instead lol.

There's nothing wrong with nvidia, it's a new line of graphics cards that are still getting driver support laid down. In fact, there's a new set of drivers coming out later this month that fixes a majority of the problems with the 600 series.
