Just wondering where's the best place to start leveling this skill. I was thinking Mandies in the Tree for a while but don't want them to die too fast that I don't skill up lol. Do you have to be engaged to Guard? I know Abyssea is the best place with Atmas and ***, but my Guard is only 70~ so don't want to start too high.

If your guard is only 70 your best bet is to find mobs that are about 25-40 to skill up on. If you try to skill up in the tree with that lvl of Guard skill you are going to be there for a very very long time waiting to see a couple skill ups.

Actually you did, Bojack. You accidentally made two at the same time.. and in regards to "waiting a long time to skill up".... well didn't they implement mog power ups to increase skill gains? as well as new grounds of valor, that increase skill ups? pretty sure it wouldn't take him forever to get this done

Yes, you have to be engaged to guard an attack. Although what I did through most of mine was target an enemy other than the ones attacking me. Thus, only countering would kill them off, but slower than attacking them. Keep in mind even with the recent updates, leveling guard remains a VERY slow process. Expect to spend countless hours on it.

I believe around 70ish skill is when I went to Davoi and linked all the orcs around F-6/7 and targeted the ranger orcs shooting from a distance.

You have to be engaged, but you don't have to be engaged on the mobs that you are fighting. Grab a load of mandies then target and attack a mob that's out of range if you're worried about them dying too fast. Alternatively try removing your weapon too, or equip a high delay-low damage low level H2H. If you can get a rdm or /rdm friend with you, go /war for agressor and defender and only attack the first mandy (let all the others link so rdm doesn't pull hate with cures). Hopefully counter doesn't prevent super-tanking, or that idea is no good though ><.

well my tip is abyssea - altepa with a hugh pdt set and some regain and defence atmas

go to conflux 6 train as many mandies you think you can hold and find a nice spot to allign them and look your parrying and guard skill lvl up like crazy i recond maybe 60-90 guard skill under 1 session if you survive offcourse ;) and it do help to eat tacos and pop aggressor and lower you evasion so your sure you get most hits on you.

Lazy much, Compare your self to a monk with capped guard. After that go kill your self. A monk without guard is like a pld with no shield, or a thf with low evasion. There are three things the can proc between getting hit evasion, counter, and guard. If you all wanna gimp yourselves and have 2 proc's let it be that way. I will keep on skilling up and getting better.

So in the span of 1 week you already asked Tiger for advice, took said advice, and didn't agree with him afterwards? Say what? lol Anyways... ya guard is pretty useless, considering how much I've seen Spharai mnks tank in Aby, their main defensive abilities are shadows and counter.... (yes I realize that spharai are the counter+ dyna h2h), but seriously... perfect counter was made for a reason, and mnks do have counter gear....for a reason.. Guard is nice and all, but seriously, its not worth ALL that time grinding it up to max.
